I was hoping the Steiner scout mech would make it on here.

I love this thing, it always looks like it can punch through anything. Want to break through the lines, bring a Zeus.

the zeus is a timeless design. I was really worried that I would mess it up :/

I think you did it a great justice. I personally love the more realistic look that the the MW4 games took on the designs and the Zeus was and is a favorite among them.

You were spot on for the Zeus. Pity it couldn't have the winglets from the Zeu-X from the cover of Maximum Tech. Maybe that would have been too much?

those fins didn't fit in with the more "realistic" military feel we were going for.

This just makes me wonder why did MechCommader 2 added three fin extensions to each shoulder, sure they looked cool, but they were so impractical.

I'm not a fan of IS mechs, however the Zeus is a good mech that fits well for pretty much anything you want.

I made one with full armor, 3 Large Lasers, 1 Gauss, 1 Artemis LRM 20 (these missiles are available in Mektek's expansion for Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries version 3.02b) And I say it does a good job for any place, at any time (except super hot maps like Solar Desert)

Btw Awesome design. I like the huge shoulders.

Nicely done. I'm a BattleTech fan from way back. Good to see an old standby get a facelift. :)

Hi. That's a relief! A lot of people get angry when the old designs are tweaked, revamped, or touched in any way. Their wrath can be terrible :(

Then you show them Dana Knutson's artwork and ask them if they'd really like to keep that.

LOL. I had to look up Dana. that stuff was done a long time ago so it is pretty dated now.

Oh, it was awful even then, considering the art was following up on Duane Loose's stuff from the 3025 and 3026 Tech Readouts.

We are not so angry! =) New design has its bright sides and they are quite strong and motivated. Redesign is well-thought and has its solid style. But I assume it is no wonder that someone liked the original style more. Anyway, all conservative classic BT fans can forgive any redesign now, as the new Mechwarrior game is about to bring back the very original designs.
Good job anyway!
May I ask something? Do you continue with the designs like this? Shall we see more of these soon? I mean not the MW4 concepts.

Hi. I have all sorts of mechs to post when I have the time. Some of them need to be formatted or retrieved from backup disk so it takes some time to gather them.

I know not all BT fans are psycho :stab:, but I have had too many encounters with angry BT people so I am weary as a precaution.

That's a good news! When you find time to post it, I believe, many people (including me) will be happy! ;)
As for angry BT fans and angry people in general - I feel for you, we have nothing else left, but ignore them and enjoy art with those who can evaluate different artistic vision properly)))

MW4 redesigned mechs look much more like present time war machines, more rational and practical.. Also they share many elements between each other, which makes them more realistic (hard to imagine the producion of hundreds of totally different machines).. But still theese new ones sometimes seem to have lost something inherent to the original ones, imho. Even though I understand the reasons for redesign, I can not force myself to accept redesigned ones for the original.
Still very good job! I would advise little more attention to isometric projection, but even like it is now it looks great!

Yes, some of them, especially the Mad Dog/Vulture, have lost their original sense of elegance and style in MW4, while others gain from it as it was their original styling anyways, as seen in the Fafnir or any of the more beefy mechs.

I fully agree about beefy mechs, but as for me, all mechs started to look quite alike to some point. Funny thing that of all the redesigns my favorite is exactly Mad Dog. I liked its turret-rack and new look in general. But the old one still rules too ;)

hey i'm trying to make a favor for all of the younger deviants to help them move on and help art keep on living. we are in a time where art and originality is ending. if you could , take your time and look at drawings from younger or less experienced artist and make a comment or two and even fave em if you want, just keep it true and helpful.

please deviant. help us move the future.

I love the way the legs are designed. Somebody could actually make a walking miniature robot to look like this.

or a giant life sized one. I only want a miniature if it is still pig enough to carry me around on its' shoulders!

I bet they could redress a Honda humanoid or HRP-2P Promet to look like one. Those might be able to carry a relatively small person. Unfortunately, there are currently no humanoid robots taller than a person.
