Interior of a storage silo on the Northern State Mental Hospital campus in Sedro-Wooley, Washington, decorated by visitors, slightly saturated to show off the color variations.
Many don't seem to think twice before exploiting mental hospitals to take 'spooky' or macabre photos that rely on the histories of the dehumanation and mistreatement of people with mental health problems and/or disabilities to build atmosphere. I wanted to take some photos of the hospital's ruins outside of that narrative. That said, I don't have a strong sense of desire to impart any special meanings with this series and hope people get whatever they want from it even if it's just to be like, 'cool.'

I'm a casual photographer and don't make it my primary work. If you'd like to see some of my miniatures or dioramas, please visit my website at www.MeandrousArt.com : D Thanks!
