Black Knight Logo - WIP

A logo I did for a game store that my boyfriend wants to set up in the future. He is going to call it "Black Knight Games" and had the idea that his logo should look kind of like a knight's crest, but with two game controllers in the middle, and to add to the technical aspect of the store, I added a grid design to the inside of the crest. It's kind of like a throwback to the covers of Sega Master System games. Anyway, we decided on the colors, either black, red, and white, or black, red, and silver. This version is black, red, and white.

I would really like some input on this, just to see if there's anything I should add or should work on, so some critique would really be appreciated.

Done in Adobe Illustrator.
Design (c) Anna Konwinski and Samuel Everline, 2012

EDIT: Applied some suggested changes to make it more "heat shield" like, and better integrated the helmet into the design. The version with silver can be viewed here: [link] I think I like the version with white a bit more, though.

The white does stand out better, but maybe try and combine the two? I like the look of the grey controller, but maybe just to the outside box areas of it instead of all. Make it look like a kickass old nintendo controller

Thanks for the input, dear. The thing is with logos, though, the more colors you have, the more expensive they are to print usually, like with t-shirts. I wanted to stick to a two to three color limit, and we decided on maybe having two versions of the logo depending upon the print job. With the white in there, it would be more cost effective, say, if we wanted to print the logo on white t-shirts for the store employees to wear. While with the silver version, it could be used for business cards, put on homemade covers of games, a sign for the store, etc. Also, if I added the silver in with the white one, I'm kind of worried that I'd somehow infringe upon Nintendo's copyright, and I don't want to take the risk. ^^;

Looks very decent, A Party per Cross of Argent and Gules for the field, with a Cross Controller as the charge in argent and Sable.Would recommend using a more traditional Heater Shield design, with the helm and plume as a crown, instead of being incorporated into the shield itself.

Wow, you certainly know your stuff when it comes to crests. Thanks a lot for the input. =)

I applied your suggested changes, and I must say it looks much better. Even added a few more details to the helmet to better integrate it into the design.

I like it actually. I would say go with the black, red, and silver though instead of the white. The white just gives a lot of negative space to me. Though I really do like the throw back to Sega.

Thanks much for the critique. I made the white areas silver, but I think I like the white a bit better. It just stands out more. That's just me, though.
