These numbers are troubling but not that surprising. I think autism is strongly correlated with other conditions that compound the problem. I have a lot of medical problems and I am not really sure how they are connected. Also, although employers are legally required to provide reasonable accommodations, I doubt that is actually happening a lot of the time.
Totally feeling you here. I want to be an actress, but first I need to work up my resume. Problem is that no one will give me a chance, not even the Sheltered Workshop!
Try Youtube, maybe? I don't know much of anything about breaking into the world of acting, but I hear it's a difficult one. A lot of people are trying to get noticed by posting on Youtube, though getting started on that is a LOT of word of mouth.
What's a golden lining?
Just a spoof of a "silver lining" (as far as I know).
i see it a sa blessing just like my dyslexia ^^ everyone else in the world think things they do as borring an whatnot we end up having to work hard and it becomes sort of an adventure to do stuff even if we dont want it to be^^
There are some days where I wish I didn't have autism, but most of the time I'm glad I have it. I wouldn't be me without it.
it's not our faults we cant find work, part of it is modern society's fault, they assume we are not capable of working, and our bullies, they get the good stuff, while we have to go for scraps
i'm seeing it as more of a curse than a blessing.
Maybe using some ideas that we have could help with earning a living
