Description
I conceived the concept for this rendering of the notoriously reclusive "Catcher in the Rye" author J.D. Salinger years ago and knocked out a version in watercolor that I was never all that happy with. A few weeks ago I was cleaning out one of my umpteen "Boxes o' Crap" and came across the reference shots I had taken of my friend for the original and decided to give it another shot.

It really reminded me of a quote from 'Teddy', “I mean they don't seem able to love us just the way we are. They don't seem able to love us unless they can keep changing us a little bit. They love their reasons for loving us almost as much as they love us, and most of the time more.”
