Amira in a summer romper by mayorlight Amira in a summer romper by mayorlight
A sketch of Amira wearing a summer romper (of course, it's in red and gold).

Not bad for just over an hour's effort. Good practice blending colored pencils as well.

Neat work- her pose and form are very natural. The proportions look good, too.

Thanks. I think I'm finally breaking my habit of drawing characters "too many heads tall".

I think when it comes to anime, deciding the "head height count" is one of the bigger challenges. If a head is very large proportionately to the body, it needs to have larger features (bigger eyes, mainly) and a cuter look. If the head is more realistic in proportion to the body, it can get away with more "realistic" head structure (placement of the eyes, size of the nose, etc). For two extremes, I'd use Fist of the North Star and Lucky Star. A Lucky Star character with a FoTNS-proportioned, detailed head will look very odd, and the opposite is true, too (an undetailed, large-eyed simple head atop a complex more human-proportioned body).

But while the extremes are easy to spot and understand, the less extreme variances are trickier. I guess it all comes down to the eye of the artist and how they feel about it.

All in my opinion, of course.

Thanks. Highlights are one area I've been working on in particular.
