Name: Andre Brundele
Nickname(s): The Fly
Species: Mutated human
Physical Appearance: Mostly human-shaped, appears to be a Caucasian male in late 30's, of average height and weight, but right arm, right leg, and head are those of what appears to be a humanoid fly.
Outfit Description: Dresses more-or-less in the clothes of a respected scientist, but clothes show effect of transformation; dress shirts with right sleeve pushed or torn up, revealing insect arm; lab coat with no sleeves; necktie extremely loose; loafer for non-mutant foot; wristwatch on non-mutant arm; tan slacks with belt
Equipment/Powers: Genius intellect; enhanced strength and agility; possibly developing wings; acid spit; various scientific gizmos; translator neck thing, which records the vibrations of his now incompatible larynx and translates them into speech; claw hand; ambidextrous (Important when one of your hands is now a claw)
Personality: In his mutated form, Andre retains his keen scientific mind, powers of reasoning, memory, and other higher functions, but they're in conflict with the utterly alien, instinct-driven mindset of the insect part of him, meaning he can become territorial, aggressive, or fear-stricken at a moment's notice if stressed. He normally does not act violently, but if driven to, will be merciless. As he does not enjoy these episodes, he prefers to hide away from the world, working on his creations, studying his own body, and hoping against hope to find a way to reverse his transformation. But he hasn't forgotten his manners and will attempt to be a gracious host if required to. He has a strong dislike of those who are fearful or wary of science, not from the possible consequences of discoveries, but by those discoveries' mere existence, this includes the Hunters in his book.
Bio: Distinguished theoretical physicist Dr. Andre Brundele was working on his latest creation, a device to transport matter from place to place in an instant. Although the initial tests showed great promise, when Andre tested the device on himself, he was not aware that a fly had gotten into the device with him, and when he emerged, a slow transformation overtook him. He was unaware of the change at first, until his wife Helene noticed the hair on one of his arms had grown black and coarse. A test of his DNA revealed Andre had become a fly/human hybrid and his body was reshaping itself to fit its new needs. At Andre's urging, his wife and son were moved out of the house by his brother, Francois; now alone, Andre continued his work, hoping to reverse or at least understand his transformation. He began leaving a video diary as he studied the various changes his body was undergoing, until his head began to change, depriving him of his voice; even then, and with the loss of his right hand as it became a claw, he has kept at his work. Unwilling to see his work fall into the hands of those who would use it to create more monsters like himself, or worse, destroyed by the Hunters, who he sees as superstitious, bigoted, violent nincompoops at BEST, Andre kept his family sworn to secrecy and avoids human contact whenever possible. However, he has made his house a safe haven for monsters fleeing or driven from their homes, doing whatever he can to help them escape to safer waters.
