Rasfalia by MaximePLASSE Rasfalia by MaximePLASSE
This fantasy map was a commission for Playdek, Inc. and their upcoming video tactical RPG "Unsung Story : Tales of the Guardians". After a successful kickstarter, the game is still in its development stage but the client allowed me to show the map.

Good job with this map Maxime! I'm one of the Design Consultants on Unsung Story and just found out that you had been commissioned for this. I like how natural your land boundaries look. Surprising to see how much the rivers and national borders correlate, but nice job positioning the major settlements to show how important water access is for Middle-Age era civilizations.

Nice terrain work as well. Shame that the setting here isn't large enough for you to do some real variation from arctic to tropical environments like you have with some of your other maps, though. It's neat that you handled the mountain ranges well and made them look like a continuous edge of tectonic plates. One effect I liked both here and in a number of your other maps is your mountains leading into forests, creating the hilly forests / wooded mountains.

Also, great presentation. The Compass Rose in particular stands out, plus the borders and titles look nice and fitting without being overdone. The font choice works and the dull brown glow around text does help legibility which is appreciated.

I hope that things went well for you working with Playdek. Good luck with everything!
