The crisp, frigid air bit at Ivypaws nose as she inhaled the icy leaf-bare air. Turning her head slightly, she could hear the ginger colored she-cat chattering her teeth. The small apprentice, barely grown out of kit hood sat by her side.
"C-can we go b-back?" said Maplepaw, fur fluffing out as she shrunk, trying to conserve heat. Ivypaw gave a snort. "The mentors wanted me to help show you the territory a bit. And beside, the mentors are watching." she said. It was true, the mentors had wanted Ivypaw to test out the new apprentice, show her and have her get used to the territory. Clearly, the kit wasn't ready. At 22 moons old, Ivypaw had been held back from a sickness that had left her starving and thin. "Come along now." she said airily, as she flicked her to the apprentice. Maplepaw hopped to keep up . Ivypaw gave a grunt as they trudged on, the cold starting to sink in. Maplepaw made another complaint, and Ivypaw turned her head slightly.
