My Bio
I was born and live in Sao Paulo, Brazil; but also lived in Japan for almost one year, land of my father´s ancestors.

1) You can see here the art books I´m studying and the best I recommend; the courses I´m taking on subjects like illustration, drawing and painting; and also my ongoing creations or projects - both on visual arts or literature - here: mauriciokanno.deviantart.com/j… .

2) I plan to organize two contests a year here: for animal rights, on the first half of the year; and for human rights, on the second half of the year. If you want to help me with the second contest, you could donate points or notify me about other ideas. You can see the results of the first contest here: mauriciokanno.deviantart.com/j… .

3) I got a degree as journalist 6 years ago and worked in the leading newspaper of my country, until I decided that it was time to dedicate myself truly to the art. Well, my detailed story with this changing and my challenge of creating new things is here: mauriciokanno.deviantart.com/j… .

4) I´ve also written a short novel for teens/children I´m trying to publish (with some others in project) and produced a short environmental flash animation: mauriciokanno.deviantart.com/a… .

===

5) Visual artists who inspire me in a whole: Walt Disney, John Lasseter (for Pixar), Hayao Miyazaki, Osamu Tezuka, Stan Lee and Mauricio de Sousa (now specially for Monica Jovem).

I love watching animation, specially Japanese anime, and comics as well, including manga. In the manga/anime world, I praise also especially the masterpieces Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Elfen Lied, Futari H and Dragon Ball. I like a lot Love Hina, Toloveru and B Gata H Key too.

Some writers who impressed me: Marcos Rey, Paulo Coelho, Mario Vargas Llosa, Ernest Hemingway, Herman Hesse and George Orwell.

I could already visit England, Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Argentina and United States. Maybe we didn´t meet anywhere? :)

I´m very addicted to this deviantArt. If you get any idea to save me from spending so many hours here, please, help me! XD I need to really study, practice and create out there. This was my original idea, but I´m trying others too: mauriciokanno.deviantart.com/j… .

I have a blog where I write reviews on literature, but it´s in Portuguese: mauricio-kanno.blogspot.com.br…. If you´d like to add me on Facebook, please tell me where you met me, ok? www.facebook.com/mauricio.kann…

interesting, which is this other kind of technique you referred to? and what are the few artworks you made without a unique reference? i´d like to see! note that i´m not myself good on doing things without reference, and i envy who can! i feel much like yourself. i´m just proposing it to challenge you.

i see you have a plenty of fans and admirers, and it´s obvious that your work is marvellous. but if i don´t say the negative points i could see in my opinion and make suggestions, i fear i wouldn´t help you to free your artistic potential of creation...

but if you´re finding comissions to do by the way you´re usually doing, great! maybe it´s just me not understanding the artistic market... so used to the market of illustration, among my friends.

(and i´m curious to know about the prices you can get on these... hehe. because i´m easier to work using references too!)

i happily accept your possible artwork without reference (if you don´t feel bad doing that, of course...), but have in mind that this was just a suggestion for your own general improvement for freedom!

Absolutely gorgeous! Wow!

You really don't stop to paint, and you're making incredible things!

I admire the sense of nobleness and solidity here. The texture. The colors.

But... I know you love color pencils, maybe i'm stll not used to it. Somehow i still feel the lack of something to be even more real, appealing, alive. It just looks static for me. I suggest you to draw and paint figures in action, movement, more expressive.

I'm also waiting to see an original creation of yours, without reference. What do you think? <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" title=";) (Wink)"/>

Anyway, it's just me challenging you, maybe you don't need or like this other Kind of stuff...

Elvis Presley caricature
