Faces are most definitely the one thing we see a lot of in our life, and yet, many artists struggle with drawing them.
To be fair, faces are one of the hardest things to draw, as they are not like landscapes, where it doesn’t matter if a tree is a few centimetres off in height or width or even position in the painting. If you move any of the facial features just a little too much to the right or left, up or down, a portrait immediately looks strange, if not completely wrong. And that’s just one hurdle, because the individual parts that make up the face pose a challenge, too.
In this article, I’ll be going over exactly those things: The anatomy of the eyes, nose, mouth and ears, and how to draw them accurately, as well as their position on the human face and head, to hopefully give you something to sink your proverbial teeth into.
