Exar Kun's Lightsabre

By mattymanx
The Lightsaber of Exar Kun.

I have no idea who made the original model. All I know is that I have had this for the past 5 years or more and never did anything with it so I decided to convert it along with the new ones and post it.

There are 30 material zones so the hilt can be customized into a single bladed saber or even put two together to make it longer.

Please see the SOTL Mega List for the other Lightsaber conversions - [link]

Converted Lightsabres:
Qui-Gon
Obi-Wan Kenobi - Ep1
Darth Maul
Mace Windu - Ep1
Mace Windu - Ep 2 & 3
Yoda
Count Dooku
Anikin Skywalker - Ep3
Darth Sidious
Darth Vader - Ep4
Obi-Wan Kenobi - Ep4
Basic Lightsabre
Exar Kun
Ahsoka Tano (2 lightsabres)
Asajj Ventress

You're welcome.

FYI, it is a 3D resource so if you want to try some 3D for free and use the Lightsabers more creatively, go here - www.daz3d.com/daz_studio

Exar Kun's saber was of regular length even when double bladed. He based it off the ancient Sith designs (as the Jedi did the original lightsabers, LOL!)

If I recall, this is roughly regular length not including the spikes
It is. I wasn't complaining about it. Just mentioning that interesting tidbit. I really like the saber...

I wasn't complaining either. Difficult to convey that on the net.
Yeah. Typing can be a pain because you can't show expression.

I did finally download your stuff ... but I'm having a small issue.
When I try to move the sabre on his axis all works well, but when I try to rotate it, it all goes nuts. It seems to pivot on some invible axis and it's barely posable on characters.
I'm using poser Pro 2012, can you give me an hit on how to fix this issue?
mattymanx's avatar
I dont see an issue in Poser 8 other then the center being off a bit from the center of the hilt but thats the same in DS too. Best thing I can suggest would be to create a small primative sphere and place it at the center of the hilt and then parent the saber to the sphere and use the sphere to move and rotate the saber.

I did tried to import the object instad of loading it from the runtime and it doesn't have any issue in moving/rotating it around ... ofcourse importing the .obj that way, it loose all material :(

I'll test out the small sphere thingy as you sudjested :)

There may be an issue with PP2012 that we are unaware of.
ExGemini's avatar
I know that PP2012 is a small niche but, if you have the chance, check it out and see if there is anything that can be done :)
mattymanx's avatar
Would you be able to post some screen shots in an attempt to show what the issue is???
ExGemini's avatar
Do you want me to send them by note or email? :)

Email is fine. I'll note you in a sec.
