Description

The second pattern stitched from the Frosty Forest series by Country Cottage Needle :D

I was inspired to stitch this one up right now because pinkythepink's Monthly Feature Challenge  Monthly Feature Challenge: COTTAGESBullet; Pink There's a hole in my heart in the shape of an English-garden cottage, surrounded by lovely flowers that may or may not be natural to the locale and covered in a thatch roof that makes nary a moment of sense to my real-estate-hunting self. This hole will never be filled, partially because I'm a good hermit here in the desert, and partially because having a lotta plants around just means having a lotta spider houses. So, I shall admire from afar, and I'm going to need your help doing so!
Your challenge is:
Take your own craft and make something homey!La la la la It must be submitted to DA after this journal to count!Comment here with a thumb/link so that I don't miss it.Even if you aren't an artisan feel free to participate!Yes!! Bring me drawings!! Bring me photos! Bring me stories! I don't care what your medium is. La la la la
At the end of the month I'll feature al

She had featured my first one "Snowman's Cottage" and until this very moment it didn't occur to me to pick Snowgirl's Cottage, just the next cottage in the stack!

A few things about this one:  The Blanc DMC I was using wouldn't stitch right no matter what I tried to do.  Twisty, off kilter, poopy stitches so I'm thinking that skein was no good, but I was determined to finish and finish I did.  The blue birds are one row too low AND to add insult to injury, when I started the top row I was half off! Half a row off..you know, when you are stitching on linen or evenweave you count from 1 then 2,3,4 and go across then up and over...anyway I went one and then two and didn't complete somewhere along the way and I'm not ripping out the entire border to be sure where it happened :giggle:  It looks fine, so I'm happy.

The second thing is there is a button that comes with each one of these patterns (sold separately of course for added expense or something) but this one BLUEBIRD CABIN came with a dang OWL of all things.  This one gets NO button, but I did put some red beads on the door wreath to make it a little more festive.  Over all I like it, those trees are neato.  The sky snow is beaded (pattern does not call for beads) but smoke and ground snow and roof snow is all that terrible white floss :D

Strangely, I LIKE IT.  I'm happy I stitched it and even happier that now Snowman's Cabin has a mate to hang around with on the wall :D
