Just a little thumbnail from my sketchbook that's been begging me to flesh it out.
A relativly small size two seated scout walker. Suitable for screening activities and operations .vs. troops. Much like msot light armor vehicles it can be armed with a mix of chain guns, rockets, and light anti-armor missiles. The mech is technically a tripod. The forward leg is lowered for mounting and maintenance. Allowing the machine to get low enough for both proceedures to be done with no special setup. In case of the need to get up quick, the foreleg has enough pnuematic spring to bounce the machine completely upright instantly.
Half the fun of drawing things like this is the fluff history that blabbers out of your brain while you're making it.
This is one of those designs that inspires the imagination. Or at least it inspires mine! I look at it and think, "Wow, I want to do this in 3D!" Something more nimble and practical than the Star Wars scout walker and more plausible than something from BattleTech.
Is there some of Shoji Kawamori's Patlabour in your design idea?
