A probable solution to commission chargebacks.
Artists who create commissions know one caveat with accepting PayPal: their Seller Protection doesn't cover services, so they can and will be SOL if the buyer decides to dispute the transaction. While Buyer Protection doesn't cover services either, PayPal is notorious for ruling in the favor of the buyer, so the seller needs to look into other ways of protecting themselves. Which leads to our discussion here, of how we can leverage Seller Protection to ensure scamming buyers can't run off with the money after the service is completed -- by converting your commission service into a tangible product. Using HTML on deviantART
Hello! Hello and welcome to my little html tutorial. I've been working with html codes for a couple of years and I'm going to teach you what I know about using some basic html on deviantART. This won't make you a html expert or something and I'm not an expert myself but it will give just enough knowledge to make your journals, comments, news articles and other neat and lovely looking. :) deviantART actually has FAQs about html but I still wanted to do this because they look a bit unorganized, in my opinion. Also, why would you want to look for those FAQs when you can just open this news article where you have everything in one place? :dummy

Type of Contest: Acrostic Haiku.  Joining poetry from both eastern and western influences.

About the contest:  I’ve combined two forms of poetry : Acrostic (www.shadowpoetry.com/resources…) and the Haiku (A word about Haiku by MSJames ).  One Western and one Eastern, and together, I think they make a wonderfully, beautiful form of poetry that will challenge you yet excite you at the same time. If you’re a poet, then try your hand at something as difficult as the villanelle yet much more visually impressive.  However, if you’re a writer of prose, then why not try something as small and exciting as this.  There’s certainly nothing to lose, but there are many things to be gained.

Start: May 3, 2009
Deadline:  June 5, 2009 11:59:59 pm GMT

Rules:

:bulletred: Judges are not able to enter.

:bulletred: Entries must fit the guidelines the tutorial dictates.

:bulletred: Your piece must be a new deviation submitted on and after May 3, 2009.

:bulletred: No slander, racial remarks, or any type of prejudices will be accepted. Failure to comply with this rule will result in an automatic ban from the contest and the club. Comments from entrants that break this rule will also suffer the same consequence.

:bulletred: Entries must be a deviation and sent via note to Mattiello.

:bulletred: No entries will be accepted after the deadline.

:bulletred: only 1 entry will be accepted from each person (some have more than one account).

Judging:

Judging will be simple. Each judge will vote for their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place picks, and they will recieve 3 points, 2 points, and 1 point respectively.  Once they've decided on their winners, they will send their votes to me via note.  I will add all of the points together and send them to the judges for verification.

After the results are verified, I will post the winners in our news section.  The judges are then free to comment however they like on the entries.

4th and 5th place will receive honorable mentions.

Judges are as follows:

Note:  Other judges may be added, along with prizes, so keep a lookout for updates from me about the contest.  Also, pay attention to the Artist Comment below the tutorial of the Acrostic Haiku for hints and help on html for bold, italics, subtext, which will make your piece easier to read and comprehend.

If you have any questions about the form and/or the contest, simply note me.  I’ll respond as quickly as I can.

In the end,
Nature is dry and
Gaia is salt
I have created an extremely difficult variation of the haiku.  Yes,  some will not like it, but I assure you: this is no walk in the park.  Like the regular Haiku, this form also incorporates the 3-5-3 or the 5-7-5 syllable rule. However - to add a wonderful twist - I've blended the form of poetry known as Acrostic to the mix. In the past,  I've found that the Acrostic form of poetry is one of the most easy forms of poetry to take on, so I decided that I wanted to make it a little harder.  I think I've succeeded in that venture.
Continuing with the rules of the Acrostic Haiku, you must realize that only words that consist of 3, 6, 9, 12, etc letters can be used in this form. If you use say an 8 letter word, your last haiku/stanza will not be complete, because you'll end up with a 3-5 or a 5-7 instead of t

IS there a specifc word/phrase to be used for the acrostic or can I just go with my own?

Go with your own. Just make sure the amount of letters in the word is divisible by three.

Heeey, do you think you could collect all the current entries into a set of favourites or link then in the contest? If you do that people thinking about entering will have some examples to look at, and it'll be easy for all of us judging to keep up to date with the contest & the entrants.

Take care :)

Yes, actually. I'm planning on doing that, but I'll have to do that on my journal, you know. I can't change the article once it's up.
