Valentine's Day Special
Gary slithered through the tall grass, the blades swaying gently in the breeze as the sun warmed his smooth, blue scales. His tongue flicked out, tasting the air, when something caught his eye. Peeking through a gap in the greenery, his jaw dropped, hanging open in pure awe.
There, basking in a sunlit patch, was the most stunning creature he had ever seen. A female viper, her scales a soft, radiant pink that shimmered like the inside of a seashell. She was coiled gracefully, her slender body forming perfect loops that seemed to glow under the sunlight. Her head was held high, turning slowly from side to side with an elegance that made Gary's heart race.
"Wow," he whispered, unable to tear his eyes away. "She’s… she’s incredible." Every subtle movement she made was mesmerizing, from the gentle flick of her tongue to the way her eyes half-closed in serene contentment. The way the sunlight caught on her smooth scales made her look almost ethereal, like a dream brought to life.
Gary could feel his heart pounding in his chest. "She’s gotta be the one," he muttered, his voice filled with hopeful determination. But a part of him held back, whispering that he couldn’t just slither over and blurt out his feelings. He needed to find a natural way to approach her, something smooth and casual. "Okay, Gary," he coached himself, "play it cool. Don’t mess this up."
As Gary continued to watch the stunning pink viper, every detail of her graceful form seemed to draw him in deeper. His heart pounded in his chest as she shifted slightly, the sunlight dancing across her shimmering scales. He was entranced, unable to look away. And then, she opened her mouth.
Gary's eyes widened in shock and awe. There it was—a single, solitary fang gleaming in the sunlight, just like his own. His jaw dropped even further, and for a moment, he could barely breathe. "She… she has one fang," he whispered, the realization hitting him like a lightning bolt. "Just like me!"
The revelation was almost too much for him to handle. "No way," he gasped, his voice rising with excitement. "This is incredible! It’s like we’re… we’re soulmates!" He couldn’t contain his excitement any longer and slithered out of the grass, his heart pounding with anticipation.
"Hey! Hey, you!" he called out, his voice filled with giddy excitement. The pink viper turned her head toward him, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Gary beamed, feeling like the luckiest snake in the world. "I couldn’t help but notice… you’ve got one fang too! Look!"
He opened his mouth wide, showing off his single fang with pride. "See? We match! It’s like we’re two peas in a pod, or two scales on a snake!" He chuckled at his own joke, his enthusiasm bubbling over. "Isn’t it amazing? I’ve never met anyone like me before!"
The pink viper chuckled softly, her eyes warm and inviting. She lifted her tail and motioned for him to come closer. Gary’s heart soared at the invitation, and he eagerly slithered toward her, unable to stop talking. "This is so cool! I mean, what are the odds? We’re like, the perfect pair!"
As he drew closer, his excitement only grew. "You know what we should do? We should totally make one of those heart shapes with our bodies!" he suggested, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "You know, where each of us makes one half of the heart, and together we form a whole!"
The pink viper chuckled, a melodic sound that sent shivers down Gary’s spine. She lifted her tail and gave a playful beckon, inviting him to come closer. Gary’s heart soared, his eyes twinkling with joy as he eagerly slithered towards her.
The pink viper’s golden eyes glowed warmly as she gazed at Gary, her expression soft, almost playful. She didn’t speak a word, but the way she slowly tilted her head, letting the sunlight catch the iridescent pink of her scales, made his breath hitch. Her tail, which had beckoned him closer, now curled loosely around herself, a silent invitation. She flicked her tongue, the delicate movement sending a tingling warmth through Gary’s entire body.
Gary felt his heart pounding so hard he was sure she could hear it. Every fiber of his being tingled with anticipation. “She wants me to come closer,” he thought, barely able to contain his excitement. His long, blue body trembled slightly as he inched forward, trying to keep his movements smooth and graceful, but inside, he was giddy beyond belief.
His mind raced, his thoughts a whirlwind of dreamy optimism. “Oh my scales, this is happening. This is real. This is it. This is love!” He had imagined romance before, but this—this was beyond anything he had dreamed of. She was perfect, flawless, The way she looked at him, the way her tongue flicked just a bit slower now, tasting the air between them—it was mesmerizing.
She tilted her head slightly to the side, just enough to close the last little distance between them. Her single, perfect fang gleamed in the golden light, mirroring his own. The symmetry of their imperfection was poetic, beautiful. Gary felt as if he were floating.
Their lips inched closer, and Gary swore he could feel the warmth of her breath. His entire world had shrunk down to this moment—just the two of them, just the electric closeness between them. “I’m about to have my first kiss,” he thought, his heart racing. He could already imagine how perfect it would be, how soft and sweet, the final confirmation that they were meant to be together.
Their noses almost brushed. Her eyes fluttered half-closed. Gary closed his too, smiling dreamily, savoring the moment. His lips puckered just the slightest bit as he leaned in the final inch…
And then—THUNK.
His head dropped like a stone, smacking straight into the ground. His eyes snapped open in confusion, and his vision swam for a moment before clearing. The beautiful pink viper, the warmth of her gaze, the electric tension between them—it was all gone.
The tall grass rustled around him as a gentle breeze passed through, the only sound accompanying his sudden, crushing realization.
It had all been a dream.
Gary blinked in stunned silence before wailing, his voice carrying through the park, “Noooo! Why?! We were so close!” He flailed his tail dramatically before flopping onto his back, staring up at the sky with a heartbroken sigh.
Then, suddenly, his eyes widened. His frown flipped into a bright, hopeful grin. “Wait a second—this is a sign! My dream is telling me something! I’m totally gonna get a girlfriend soon!”
His tail wiggled excitedly, and he sat up, his heart once again light and full of possibility. “Oh man, I gotta start preparing! What if she’s out there right now? What if she’s looking for me?”
His mind raced with new optimism, his sadness forgotten as he slithered off, his eyes shining with romantic determination. “That dream was destiny, I just know it! And when I find her, we are making that heart shape!”
