I did some trading cards based on this game for Fantasy Flight Games a while back. Fairly certain I'm not allowed to show them as yet. Anyway, doing them led me to purchase an xbox and the game. It's pretty good, if you don't own it you should get it. If you do, my gamertag is hattaman. Come get ya ass kicked.

I'm pretty late to this generation of consoles, what games do y'all recommend?

here's a nice mini-feature on me: tyronelove.deviantart.com/jour…

More on SC4: I know fighting games are best enjoyed with a human opponent, but the single player modes just aren't as good as earlier games in the series. I actually liked the old mission battle-ish modes, the maps provided a sense of progress in the game. Tower of Lost Souls is nothing more than a glorified Survival mode, the non-glorified version of which is conspicuously absent.  And why the hell is there no Team Battle Namco? wtf? /rant

Yep I was gonna say Mass Effect... you can't miss it.. fantastic visuals and overall gameplay! very late to the conversation though.. haha. Bioshock and Mass Effect sequels are looking kick ass by the way, don't miss them!

I have it but I'm a little scared to play it. Bioshock spooked me and it wasn't even really a horror game pre se.

Awesome news. Even though I haven't played SC4 yet I love the 2nd episode on the first Xbox and still play it from time to time. I can't wait to see what you did with the original designs. Anyway if you play any good multiplayer game in the future I'd be glad to play a few matches with you ;)

Soul Calibur 4 is a great game.

Soul Calibur 2, however, was probably the best one. More exciting, and fast-paced than 1, far more balanced than 3. The thing I really hate about Namco is how much they change the fighting style of my favorite characters so drastically from game to game... make a new game with new characters, don't change my favorites! And yes, lack of team battle really sucks.

If you like fighters you should also give Street Fighter 4 a shot, although the xbox controller isn't that great for fighters period. Get some sticks!

oh yeah, Street Fighter 4 is def my next buy.

I agree on that style change bit, Mitsurugi and Nightmare have changed a lot since the first Calibur. On the other hand though I think Mitsurugi changed for the better. He had some moves that were ridiculously overpowered and far reaching. Ivy too, her style seems more fluid now.

I haven't played 2 or 3 at all really, I just assumed 4 would be better i guess. I'll definitely be checking them out though.

I only hope they heed these complaints for the next installment (if there is one). SC4 just seems shallow somehow.

Ivy was the most fluid in two, IMO. She had three stances that she switched between constantly, plus her summon suffering/calamity symphony was actually feasible to combo with. It's unique that the last one you played was 1, that's a big difference. I played a lot of 1, but 2 got me obsessed.

You'd think they'd get better with each installment, but all they really end up doing is shifting stuff around and hoping it's more fun. SF 3rd strike and Tekken 3 are considered the best of their respective series. I don't know what compels them to put imperfections on awesome games! I don't need a armor break gauge and bigger boobs, dammit! /rantoff

Yeah, map-based single player in souledge/soulblade was really something else.. The games nowadays got graphics, and that's just about it. The soul got ripped out by shader-hungry audience, it's sad..

On the subject of recommending games, I'm only familiar with ps3's library, as PS was and remained my favorite console(s). If you're looking for games with atmosphere, soul, great music, story, whole worlds that make you go "whoa".. don't bother searching, you won't find it. As for big names, Killzone 2 is a great shooter, Metal Gear 4 was an out-of-this-world experience, 5 hours of pure cinematic cutscenes with really, really deep story. I guess mgs is the only game that retained it's original flavour and continuity of awesomeness. The rest- zero, compared to just about any playstation 1 game.

Yeah, graphics seems to supersede gameplay nowadays. I wanted to get a Wii at first for that reason, but I'm a huge Soul Calibur fan (the first one anyway).

The only other game I have is Mass Effect. It's got a good story (so far) and is pretty engrossing. The gameplay mechanics aren't perfect but it's enjoyable over all.

Haven't given that one a try, I'm pretty sceptic towards every highgly advertised title, but might give it a shot.
And when nostalgia hits the brainshelves (and it does, often), I've got a psx emulator and good ol' games ready to go, and I enjoy them far more than I would any new game. Damn you/Thank you sony, for making psx and stealing my childhood.
