Hello everyone

This is my response to the questions asked on my Q&A that I posted last week :)

1) How did you discover your niche in the art world? What inspired you to adapt this style of yours?

My answer/ Hi Andy813, thanks for the question. I have been making art for as long as I can remember really, from a very young age I was drawing and making things. But I have been painting for about 6 years now, started back in 2009 in my second year of college.

2)1. What are your favourite musical artists, as in composers, bands, et cetera?
2. Does the music you listen to serve as a catalyst in your artistic production? That could go many ways, of course, from simply listening to it as you paint to being touched by any turn in the music and responding to that in your artistic medium.
3. Who are the visual artists (such as painters or cartoonists) whose work you dislike the most?
4. What is it in abstract painting that you perceive as the most interesting or appropriate for you to work on? Or rather, what do you think the language of abstract painting contains to attract you in using it as a means of self-expression?

My answer/ Hello ArthurBlake Thanks for all the questions, I am going to answer all of them in one go to keep it shorter. I like a lot of music and when it comes to making art I put all kinds of music on really. But I mostly like metal music, to name a few bands I like (death, cannibal corpse, decapitated & rings of Saturn). I find the music I like and when playing it when painting dose not affected my way of painting and thinking. Visual artists I like are (Alexis Harding, Callum Innes & Michael Porter). I am also really into old school movie posters of horror films & sci-fi films. The hand painted posted you would find from the 80's of cult movies. Abstraction I find the most interesting to make. What pulls me into it is the way that there are no limits to what can be made when it comes to abstraction. I find it is the best way to express my self because it gives me no limits to what my imagination can come up with.

3)  i heard you like godzilla, is that true.....? :) (Smile)

My answer/ Mr Kyri, yes I am a Godzilla fan I am massive Godzilla fan at that!.

The passage of time is evident through cracked concrete and subsiding structures and this instability is further reflected through distortions as buildings are adopted for uses often abandoned to their initial intention. Each painting starts at an abandoned location, often institutionalised buildings, then the paintings are built through layers of techniques which rely on chance and control, such as pouring, smearing and the use of dispersing of paint. This chaotic process is then layered with more considered painterly responses mirroring the flux, fragile equilibrium of architecture and nature within each site. This idea and processes carries on during the making of these paintings, by leaving them on site for several days or weeks. During the absence of myself and by allowing the paintings to be open to the environment of the abandoned locations, over a course of time, allows the painting processes to carry on during the absence by allowing this passage of time and flux to affect the works. This occurs during weather changes and the surroundings of the locations, due to its forever decaying structure. Within these paintings I want the associations of the places to be present within each piece; by naming them after each location, weather condition and date from which they were made, to help with the connection between the processes and place. I am interested in the idea of how we project ideas onto inanimate objects and unused buildings or interior spaces can become the personification of a danger or threat that we feel may be prevalent within it. I try to link this idea with the paintings, by dissecting sections of the places and painting from them in an abstract language. The intent is to develop an abstract visual vocabulary by doing this, using an innate sense of relationships, to creating something new yet with a sense of subconscious familiarity that are controlled within the space of a painting. They don't try to depict reality, they rely more on colour, contrast and texture to convey my feelings and make things visible to the viewer in some respects.
