 Basics

Bullet; White  In ketucari with color modifiers (tint, dilute, vivid, smokey, blended, or flaxen), the segment gene restricts
the modified color to certain markings, revealing the unmodified base color underneath.
Bullet; White In your ketucari's genotype, segment is denoted by the letters "nSg" (heterozygous) or "SgSg" (homozygous).
Bullet; White In its heterozygous form, segment has a pass rate of 45%. Homozygous segment has a 70% pass rate.

Color and Shape

The color of segment depends on the color of the modified base. For example, if the ketucari is olive, the color of the segment will be olive and the rest of the coat will be charcoal.

The segmented color must be picked from the swatch of the modified base. Admins will color pick when judging designs to be sure they match up. This includes genes with a gradient. If a marking is gradiented (lacing, sable, etc.) the area of the mark closest to the spine or center of the mark should have a clear area of color able to be swatched with no overlays to change the color.

Flaxen jade segmented to dusky points, revealing the original charcoal coat:

To add another layer of design options, if a ketucari has two or more color modifiers, you can do something like below. This ketucari (originally charcoal) has tint, vivid, and smokey. Instead of segmenting the smokey green to the charcoal, the the smokey green has been segmented to strand+marble on green. Another example of this would be segmented violet to lilac rather than buff.

As of 8/20/18, segment may also do the REVERSE of the above, restricting the original base coat to a marking on the modified coat, as below:

Range

Segment can only be restricted to one of the markings below. It shares the range of the marking it's segmented to.

Interaction with Other Markings

Testbutton by WerewolfStripclub
Bullet; White All markings can be layered under or over segmented sections.
Bullet; White Segment may restrict the modified color to the following markings. If the ketucari doesn't have any of this markings,
segment will not be visible. It can still be carried and pass on to the ketucari's offspring, however.

Acid
Barring
Brindle
 Charring
Dapple
Dusky Points
Gecko
 Hood
Koi
Lace
Mantle
Marble
Melanistic Pastel
Ray
Sable
Spotting
Strand
Striping
 Tar Pit
Webbing

Bullet; White When interacting with Segment, the lintosi colors chosen will shift down to a different color in the same family. For example, opal and blue have shifted into different stone shades here, and stone shifted into brown where segment affects sable.

Accents

Here are some small accents you can add to your designs to make them more unique!

Bullet; White Segmented sections may have a subtle gradient like below:

Excuse me... um, I was wondering about this guy: matriarchs-haunt.deviantart.co…
As far as I can tell, he doesn't have the Segment showing? Or does he? Or does the gene not show because he doesn't have any of the markings that the color may be restricted to?
