Done as a book cover for a book still available on e-bay I think. I don't get many environments commissions so I experimented a bit with this one.

Yes, still the book available [link] :) I really love this picture, although it makes me tilt my head.. doesn't matter, the ship maybe just now turned left :D Being an astronaut, I would want to save this view into memory to project it before sleep :P So beautiful colors, perfect work on water and smoke, lovely design of the ship and so imaginative look on the city.. I guess you are still proud on this work and wouldn't change a bit of it ;)

Everything can be improved - or at least thats what the little perfectionist in the back of my head keeps whispering. :D

It depends.. the small imperfections in human artifacts are what makes it so beautifully different from being done by machine ;)
But surely you are right, yet I don't see anything what could be improved here :D

An artist will always do. Thats why finishing a piece is rather a decision when to stop instead of being a decision to call it finished. :P

Seems like you artists would need a small sprite, who would steal your work at the moment is it great enough, a little hidden umpire :D

But how would the sprite know when the work is great enough when even we that do it don't really know? :P

An intelligent sprite living in your household, in your glorious company and seeing you working every day.. he would learn to see the right moment and would also have a fresh objective view.. well, maybe you don't need a sprite, perhaps your future wife will do :D
Let's clink our pints on it! :ahoy:

I was worried about that too but the city was practically the back cover of the book and the space ship the front cover. So basically, 'tho I build it as a whole image, the viewer would have looked at two distinct images. I kept the city clear to enforce a bit that although, in the overall image making the city a bit out of focus would have made sens. Thanks for a good crit.

Mates you got some good color work here. In particular I like how you handled the water there and also the ship. I would of maybe made it look like the city was pushed back further just giving it some more depth but other then that not bad.
