:iconmastersword3710: Among the warriors of ancient times, the ninjas were very unique.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: And among the heroes of Science Fiction, the cyborgs were the...most common.

:iconmastersword3710: And with cyborgs, you have....cyborg ninjas. ‘Cuz why not?

Overwatch agent and brother to Hanzo.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: He’s Mastersword3710 and I’m MissElectroPOP.

:iconmastersword3710: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to see who’d win, a Death Battle.

:iconmastersword3710: In the 29th century, far away from our Earth is the planet Pandora. Pandora is said to be filled with rare materials, minerals, and technology. But what really drew people in to the planet was the rumored Vault, which is said to contain the most advanced alien technology.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Ah Borderlands...a game I don’t understand at all...except for Tiny Tina.

:iconmastersword3710: In order to find this Vault, groups called “Vault Hunters” were hired to find them. And the cyborg ninja assassin, Zer0 was one of them.

:iconmastersword3710: No, not the first group, the second one.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Wait so this is like Star Fox, or The Avengers, or basically any kind of sequel game?

:iconmastersword3710: Well, no, not really. The first group of Vault Hunters from the first game are separate from the second group, and they’re not playable characters in the second game.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: This is already getting pretty confusing...

:iconmastersword3710: Uh, basically, the Vault Hunters in Borderlands 2 isn’t the first group with more members, it’s an entirely separate group altogether. And one of their members, as mentioned before, is Zer0.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Okay now we can talk about our first fighter.

:iconmastersword3710: Fun thing about Zer0 is that nothing is really known about him, except for his gender kinda. Nothing’s known about his origins, his race, anything. What is known, however, is that he’s an assassin for hire.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Zer0 is willing to do any kind of hit, including political. But he also wants a challenge.

:iconmastersword3710: And when he heard of the wonders of Pandora, he figured it would provide enough of a challenge. From his arrival on the planet, he became a Vault Hunter.

Background:

-Name: Zer0.
-Age: Unknown.
-Height: N/A.
-Weight: N/A.
-History is largely unknown.
-An assassin for hire.
-Vault Hunter.
-Helmet makes many different Emoticons.

:iconmastersword3710: Of course, Zer0 wasn’t a novice when he came to Pandora. He came prepared. Though he can use about any weapon he can find, he has preferences. Specifically sniper rifles and handguns. And while there’s plenty of weapon manufacturers, he prefers three different types: Jakobs, Vladof, and Hyperion...which is ironic as that’s the company trying to kill him.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Though one of his best skills is Decepti0n-oh come on, how much edge do you have to name yourself Zer0, with a ZERO AND DO THE SAME FOR YOUR OWN DAMN SKILL! *charging up my arm cannon*

:iconmastersword3710: He actually replaces every “o” with a “0” in...just about everything. He also speaks in haikus. In any case, Decepti0n, as the name implies, is Zer0’s best ability. With it, he’s able to create a holographic clone of himself, which can move around on Zer0’s command, and can even speak. Meanwhile, the real Zer0 is cloaked, giving him a chance to sneak around a foe and hit them when they least expect it. And he usually does this with his sword.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: And the longer he stays cloaked, the more damage he can do, but its cooldown takes longer.

:iconmastersword3710: I’ve only just now mentioned it, but Zer0’s sword is unique as it’s technically not real.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: It’s a hologram too?

:iconmastersword3710: Nope. The entire sword is a Digistruct.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Lemme guess, it’s digital?

:iconmastersword3710: Basically. There are Digistructs of weapons, vehicles, and even people. This is accomplished by digitally constructing objects and people with blueprints. That being said, there’s no distinct difference between a Digistruct and the original object. What’s more is that the Zer0 we know may not be the original.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Like you said before Mastersword, we don’t really know anything about Zer0. He could be a Digistruct and Angel herself said he wasn’t human.

:iconmastersword3710: That is true. However, despite there being no distinct difference between Zer0’s sword and a real one, should the blade break or the sword somehow be separated from Zer0, he can simply make another one. He’s never without his trusty sword.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Like all fictional assassins, Zer0 is pretty good at his job. I wish I could take care of the fans in my basement...

:iconmastersword3710: Well...I think your problem is that you keep them there in the first place. In any case, Zer0’s pretty good. Of course, he’s pulled off plenty of assassinations, but his feats on Pandora far exceed anything else. He’s killed plenty of psychos and bandits.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Also add the Warrior and the notorious Handsome Jack.

:iconmastersword3710: The Warrior in particular is an impressive feat as it’s a Vault monster, or a Guardian. As a matter of fact, it’s an Eridian biological superweapon. Sure, it’s not described as a “god-like being” like the Destroyer, a previous Guardian, this is still impressive. The Eridians were far more technologically advanced than humanity is, and possibly any other alien race.

:iconmiss-electro-pop:…What about the Chozo?

:iconmastersword3710: Wrong universe!

Feats:
-Before traveling to Pandora, pulled off many assassinations.
—Even against political figures.
-Has killed plenty of psychos, bandits, monsters, etc.
-Potentially fought Handsome Jack’s clones.
-Potentially fought Handsome Jack himself.
—Also could’ve killed him.
-Fought against and killed the Warrior, a biological super-weapon.
—Must’ve had major help from his fellow Vault Hunters.
-Fought multiple bandits during a Death race Bossanova was running.
—Bossanova issued a $20,000 reward for anyone who killed Zer0, meaning just about everyone had their sights on him.
-Tricked Bossanova Into killing himself.
-Assuming you chose the right dialogue options, Zer0 helps out during the fight against the Traveler, another Guardian from a Vault.
—Fought it off while controlling a giant Gortys.
—And honestly kinda kicked its ass.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Zero with...a 0 is cool, but he is still got his flaws.

:iconmastersword3710: For one, he’s not a guy who can go in guns blazing. He can play more of a support role than anything. And yeah, while he can hold his own against a bunch of Psychos, he can be overwhelmed by tons of bandits, or other types of enemies.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Basic overconfidence! Not to forget that while using Decepti0n, he uncloaks after attacking and when he’s kept it for so long and cooldown is at its maximum, don’t expect him to escape without a scratch.

:iconmastersword3710: Right, when Zer0 turns invisible, he’s not invincible. He’s also a “squishy” character. Even though he has a shield, he can still be put down fairly easily.

Weaknesses:
-Plays more a of a supportive role than anything.
-Has low HP compared to other fellow Vault Hunters.
—Not the lowest, mind you, but pretty low.
-Shields take time to recharge, and are specifically vulnerable to electricity.
-Isn’t invincible while Decepti0n is active.
-Some Skills only work until after an enemy is killed.

:iconmastersword3710: Zer0’s still a tricky and tough opponent nonetheless.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: *trying to activate a digital blade* Yeah, he’s basically every 12 year olds geek’s dream.

:iconmastersword3710: Plus if he dies, he can always just return to the nearest New U Station.

Zer0: “Bossanova’s dead / I don’t think he was lying / Gortys is not here.”

Mad Moxxi: “Don’t sweat it, babe. That’s one less bandit we have to worry about. There’s plenty o’ time for sweating later, once you’ve come back to me for your reward.”

Zer0: “My quest is not done.”

Mad Moxxi: “My reward for you is gonna be long, hard, and powerful.”

Zer0: “Gortys remains out of reach.”

Mad Moxxi: “It’s a rocket launcher.”

Zer0: “Yes. Innuendo.”

:iconmastersword3710: Centuries ago, a criminal origination and a ninja clan were founded; the Foot Cl-I mean, the Shimada Clan.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Don’t worry, I know way more criminal ninja clans.

:iconmastersword3710: That actually has me VERY worried. But regardless, time came for the clan to be controlled by Shiro Shimada. And, he had two sons. The older was named Hanzo, while the younger was named Genji.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Damn does this remind of Saizo and Kaze, except I don’t want to marry either of them even if they were in Fire Emblem. Anyway, Genji kinda wanted to live a more bachelor less ninja way.

:iconmastersword3710: That’s not to say he didn’t enjoy his training in ninjitsu, in fact he excelled at it. But he didn’t really care for his family’s illegal business. Instead, he chose a more playboy lifestyle, like Tony Stark. This didn’t sit well with the clan members, and they criticized Shiro for defending his son. Then, the time came. Upon Shiro Shimada’s death, Hanzo was naturally next in line.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: And Hanzo...he took the Sasuke Route. If I remember clearly.

:iconmastersword3710: Well, he didn’t go down that path yet. He was told that Genji must get his shit together for the better of the clan. But Genji didn’t want to. This lead to the two brothers fighting, and Hanzo emerged victorious.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: So exactly the Sasuke Route.

:iconmastersword3710:....yes. However, Genji wasn’t dead, only near death. He was saved by Overwatch and Dr. Angela Ziegler, or as you may know her, Mercy.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Or discount Medic!

:iconmastersword3710: Ahem. Anyway...Overwatch saw Genji as an important asset in their battle against the Shimada Clan. But because Genji’s injuries were extremely bad, they rebuilt his body. Or, more accurately, was put through cybernization. From then onward, he was known as......well, actually he didn’t get a code name like some agents. But he was now faster, stronger, more durable, and was more serious than ever.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: So...who was the person who sculpted him to compete with Tracer’s ass?

:iconmastersword3710: Um...I don’t know...but it’s a cybernetic choice...I guess.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Though since this is Overwatch and it takes place after the Onmic Crisis, having robotic upgrades is pretty tough on you and Society’s view.

:iconmastersword3710: Well, that’s why Genji wasn’t known to the public, at least not yet. Instead, he was part of the Blackwatch division, a secret group that carried out black ops-like missions. On a mission to Rialto, the group was revealed to the world, even though their mission was a success.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: *trying hard not to scream out “Why the edgy name?”* Exactly...

Background:

-Name: Genji Shimada.
-Age: 35.
-Height: Approximately 5’7”
-Weight: Approximately 133 lbs.
-Hanzo’s younger brother.
-Overwatch Agent.
-Has cybernetic enhancements.
-Is ambidextrous.

:iconmastersword3710: As mentioned before, Genji’s cybernetics gave him more strength, speed, etc. But they also help out with acrobatics. He’s easily able to run and climb up walls, as well as double jump. Sure it defies gravity, but so does every other Overwatch character.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: But he is also a ninja, and has training in Ninjitsu. Ninjas are more than just stealth as they are also masters of spies and scouting. Deception is their most important skill. They also train in free running and archery which is probably why the use of ninja stars is so popularized and luckily, Genji uses them.

:iconmastersword3710: Genji has perfect precision with his shurikens and usually throws three at a time, or all three at once, making them spread out. Luckily for him, the damage isn’t different no matter how he throws them. He’s also able to make a quick dash towards an enemy and strikes with his wakizashi.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Though they might look similar, they aren’t like katanas. A wakizashi is used best with close combat action. Kanzan Satō, an author of a book just for Japanese swords, writes the wakizashi may have become more popular than the tantō, a short sword like weapon, due to it being more suited for indoor fighting.

:iconmastersword3710: Genji doesn’t just use this sword for killing foes, he can also deflect projectiles, to bullets, to explosives, etc. However, melee attacks are just blocked, even if they seem like projectiles. But Genji is most known for his iconic sword; the Dragonblade.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: The Dragonblade is similar to a katana and with the wakizashi paired with it, it is considered a daishō. Wow I finally get to talk about all of my Japanese nerd stuff!

:iconmastersword3710: Well, there’s something the Dragonblade does that normal katanas obviously can’t. SUMMON A FUCKING GREEN DRAGON!

<da:embed id="RIYd6Xdn88U" profile="youtube" width="560" height="315">
Weapons and Abilities:

Shurikens:
-Carries 3 at a time.
-Can rapidly throw one after another.
-Alternatively, can throw all three at once for a wider spread.
-Has a maximum of 24 Shurikens total.

Swift Strike:
-Genji darts forward, slashing with his wakizashi, passing through foes in his path.
-Moves 25 meters per second.
-Can instantly reuse if a target is eliminated.
—Doesn’t matter if he kills them with this specific ability.
-Cooldown is 8 seconds.
—Lore wise, cooldown is likely lessened.
-Also helps greatly for movement in general.

Deflect:
-Can deflect projectiles with lighting-Quick reflexes.
—Said projectiles rebound back to sender.
—Can even deflect explosives.
-Can deflect hitscan attacks.
—Damage falloff will be reset upon deflecting.
-Can only block melee attacks, not deflect them.
-Has a cooldown of 8 seconds.
—Is likely lessened in lore.

X-Strike:
-Preforms two large slashes in an ‘X’ shape.
-Said slashes detonate after 1.25 seconds.
-Has a cooldown of 80 seconds.

Dragonblade:
-Genji’s Ultimate.
-Takes out his katana for 6 seconds to deal killing blows.
—In lore, can wield his katana whenever he wants, just not the dragon he summons.
-Can’t use his Shuriken’s while Ultimate is active.
-Will deflect projectiles with Dragonblade as opposed to his wakizashi.
-Can manifest a dragon.
—Takes time to charge.

Cybernetic-Agility:
-Can climb/run on walls and other flash surfaces.
-Can double-jump.
—Doesn’t reset while wall-climbing.

:iconmastersword3710: Though he rejected his cybernetics at first, Genji is now a master at his field, and his feats can back this up.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: LIKE A DRAGON!

:iconmastersword3710: That’s right. When the long awaited rematch between Genji and Hanzo arrived, not only did Genji emerge victorious, he revealed that the brother Hanzo believed to have struck down was not dead at all. How did he prove it? By countering Hanzo’s dragons with his own.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: And giving us the only proof of his face. Nonetheless...DRAGON!! *A digital dragon comes out of my arm cannon*

:iconmastersword3710: In that same fight, Genji was able to not only react, but deflect multiple ricocheting arrows in a tight space. He’s also quick enough to dodge Hanzo’s arrows, and even sliced one in half. And in a battle against Doomfist, he took a powerful punch from Doomfist’s gauntlet.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: And not to forget how strong Doomfist is.

:iconmastersword3710: Doomfist’s gauntlet is described to be powerful enough to destroy skyscrapers. Assuming this fact and not myth, and assuming this is done with one blow, Doomfist’s gauntlet would have to deal approximately 1.484 kilotons of force. Though Genji was down for the count at this point, the fact that he was even alive speaks volumes about his durability.

Feats:
-Even before cybernetic enhancements, already excelled at his ninjitsu training.
-Barely survived his fight with Hanzo.
-After cybernetic enhancements, helped Overwatch fight his family’s criminal empire.
-Became a Blackwatch member, and carried out several missions in secrecy.
-Is faster than nearly every other Overwatch member.
—Claims Tracer is the only person he has trouble keeping up with.
-Fought against Doomfist with Tracer and Winston.
—Took a blow from Doomfist and survived.
—Granted, he was down for the count, and Winston was the biggest reason they won.
-With Zenyatta as his mentor, accepted his machine body parts, and got more control over them.
-When he got a rematch with Hanzo years later, he won.
-Is fast enough to deflect multiple ricocheting arrows in a tight space.
-With his own dragon, guided Hanzo’s dragons and sent them right back at him.
-Counters Bastion, Mercy, Widowmaker, Hanzo, Zenyatta, and Soldier 76.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Though it has to be said, Genji is an Offense Fighter.

:iconmastersword3710: That means he has trouble fighting against more...tanky characters, like Reinhardt or Winston. Mei is also a counter as she can immobilize Genji with ice, which, if you haven’t figured it out at this point, mobility is essential for him. We’re not saying he can never win against them, just that it’s pretty difficult.

Weaknesses:
-Mobility is essential for Genji, should it be taken away, he could be in trouble.
-Has difficulty fighting against more tanky characters.
-Lore or not, some abilities have cooldowns.
—Especially his Ultimate.
-Can’t deflect beams or beam-like attacks.
-Is countered by Zarya, Mei, Winston, Roadhog, Pharah, Symmetra, and Reinhardt.

:iconmiss-electro-pop: Unfortunately for Genji, I’m a Mei Main. *grins evilly with ice coming from my cannon* Even with those faults, Genji is an important member of the Overwatch.

:iconmastersword3710: No matter the opponent, the area, or the situation, Genji will continue to fight on for himself and for the good of the world.

Hanzo: “Real life is not like the stories our father told us! You are a fool for believing it so!”

Genji: “Perhaps I am a fool to think there is still hope for you. But I do. Think on that, brother.”

Gotta say this prelude was really funny and well made:thumbsup:

Now for the battle itself after some quick research.......Zer0 has Genji's number on this one: The Valut hunter has fought FAR more dangerous foes with town levels of power, tanks hits from them all the same, is likely more experienced then Genji, has a slightly better blade, and is just VASTLY more versatile in every way imaginable!

The only advantages Genji has is debately speed and better training.

Genji should WATCHED out for trouble a bit better!:D
