David: Alright, the combatants are set. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Cole: It's time, for a Death Battle!!!

Hyrule Field. The winds of the peaceful land blew. The grass flowed to its wonderful melody, the sun shined brightly in the sky, and the sound of an ocarina being played could be heard. Sitting on a log was a green clad elf warrior with a sword kept in its scabbard accompanied by a shield. The elf's hat followed the winds direction, and the melody he played could bring joy troughout the land of Hyrule. The elf boy was none other than Link.
The hero played his wonderful tune, but the sound of footsteps on the dirt interrupted his playing of the ocarina. Link turned to see who it was. A boy who looked younger than himself. He had a jacket with two armor shoulder pieces, brown spikey hair, and a necklace with a crown on it. It was Sora.
Link stood up up from the log and put his ocarina in his pocket. Sora materialized his Keyblade. In turn, Link drew the Master Sword and took out the Hylian Shield. It was the battle of legends.

The two ran towards each other and clashed weapons. The released the meeting of the blades and swung again. Sparks flew as the Kingdom Key's rather blunt blade meet with the Blade of Evil's Bane. Link jumped back and fired two beams from his sword at Sora. Sora swiftly blocked both beams with the Keyblade and used Thundaga.
Link held the Master Sword up in the air and the blade absorbed the lighting. Link fired the lighting back at Sora. Sora flew upwards using Pixie Dust to avoid the lighting and used Firaga. Fire was fired from the Kingdom Key and curved in an arc fashion. Link held the Hylian Shield in defense and managed to block it. Link was, however, pushed back by the sheer force of the attack. Sora flew straight towards Link with the Keyblade by his side, ready to strike.
Sora landed and swung, but Link jumped, rolled around Sora and did a small Spin Attack, slashing Sora in the back. Sora staggered back and turned around while slashing. Link blocked the Keyblade with his shield and shield bashed Sora, knocking him to the ground.
Link jumped in the air and used a fatal blow, but Sora rolled out of the way in time, making Link lodge his Master Sword into the ground. Link struggled to pull the blade out, but Sora wasn't having that. He used Ars Arcanum and started rapidly slashing Link in the air. Sora finished off his combo by kicking Link away from his sword.
Link landed hard on the ground with a thud.
The Hero of Hyrule got up slowly. He lifted his head and saw Sora coming right at him, but with a different Keyblade. The one Sora was now using was the Ultima Weapon.
Link took out the Biggoron Sword and ran towards Sora. The two clashed weapons once again, but Sora started pushing Link back. Link equipped the Iron Boots to turn the tide of the struggle. Neither Sora or Link were gaining an edge over each other. This time, Sora jumped back and used Bilzzaga. Link didn't notice anything different, but it didn't matter.
Link took off the Iron Boots and put on a cape. Suddenly, Link vanished. Sora was shocked and he frantically looked around to try to look for Link. He couldn't find him whatsoever.
Then, Sora heard a noise. The sound of his Bilzzaga falling. The ice attack landed and hit Link and froze him. Sora smirked and threw his Ultima Weapon at Link.
The Hero of Hyrule broke of the ice just in time to block the Ultima Weapon with the Biggoron Sword. The Ultima Weapon came back to Sora, whom was running at Link. The savior of Kingdom Hearts jumped up and swung down at Link.
The Hero of Hyule raised the Biggoron Sword in defense, and a very loud clang could be heard followed by the sound of a blade shattering. It was Link's Biggoron Sword. It just broke.

Sora swung at Link, but the hero jumped back and pulled out the Hero's Bow and knocked and arrow. Link fired, but Sora blocked the arrow rather easily and ran towards Link. Link fired more arrows at Sora, but to no avail. Link then knocked a Bomb Arrow then fired. Sora jumped over the arrow and it exploded behind him. Sora used Firaga again and the fire arc made its way towards Link.
This time, the green clad hero took out the Mirror Shield and it absorbed the fire. Link fired it back at Sora. This took Sora by surprise and it struck him. Sora shook it off and continued towards Link, but the Hero of Hyrule put what appeared to be a toy mouse on the ground and it moved towards Sora.
Sora was beyond confused with Link's choice of weaponry, if this was even a weapon. Sora tried jumping over it, but it exploded.
Sora was caught in the explosion and was sent flying towards Link. Link took out a different sword and slashed at Sora. Sora hit the ground, but he got up in time to dodge a swing from Link's new blade. When he saw Link, he wasn't alone, there was now four of them.
the four Links grasped the Four Sword firmly in their hands and readied themselves. Sora got a tighter grip on the Ultima Weapon. All four Links ran at Sora, two jumped to Sora's sides and the other when used Farore's Wond to teleport behind Sora. Sora found himself surrounded by the four.
Each Link started slashing at Sora multiple times. Sora tried slashing back, but they either dodged or blocked with their shields. Sora couldn't combat four Links at a time. He jumped in the air and used Ragnarok.
Beams came from the Ultima Weapon and at the Links. The heroes were forced to run away in separate directions. Sora took this chance to go after one Link at a time. Sora flew to the red tunic Link and they clashed weaponry.
Sora kicked that Link away and dodged an attack from the blue Link. Sora used Firaga and it hit the blue Link. Sora raised the Ultima Weapon in defense as the purple Link tried slashing down on it. Sora pushed the purple Link back. All four Links gathered up and took out their bows and knocked different types of arrows. Red with the Fire Arrow, blue with the Ice Arrow, purple with the Silver Arrow, and green with the Light Arrow. They fired the arrows at Sora all at once.
Sora used Relfect and reflected the arrows back at the four Links. Each of them blocked it with their shields. Sora ran up to the four and clashed weapons with the original Link. Sora was pushing Link back rather easily, but the three other Links came in and collided their swords with the Ultima Weapon. They struggled as much as they could and soon enough, they successfully pushed Sora back.
Sora staggered backwards and the four Links simultaneously jumped up and slashed down. Sora didn't have enough time to dodge, so he quickly raised the Ultima Weapon up to defend himself.
Like before, there was a loud clang followed by the sound of yet another blade breaking. This time, however, it was Sora's Ultima Weapon.
Sora looked at his broken Keyblade and back at Link, who had stopped using the Four Sword.
Sora took out his Kingdom Key and knocked Link away with it. Link was sent flying, but he spotted his Master Sword still in the ground. Link took out the Clawshot and aimed it at a tree and fired it. The Clawshot dugged its claws into the tree's bark and it pulled Link towards the tree.
Sora ran towards Link and tried to cut him open, but Link jumped back, making Sora slice the entire tree in half. Link aimed the Clawshot at the Master Sword and fired. The claw attached to its chain grabbed onto the handle of the Blade of Evil's Bane and pulled it towards Link.
Link grabbed his sword, just in time to block a blow from Sora. The two jumped back and panted heavily. Sora had enough of this. It was time to change the tide of the battle. Sora activated his Drive Form and used the Valor Form. Now standing before Link was Sora with a red and black jacket. He was wielding two Keyblades, one was his Kingdom Key, the other was one Link hadn't seen before.
Link wasnt worried whatsoever, however. He took out the Goron's Mask and put it on. Link let out a scream as he was transformed into Goron Link. Sora was face to face with a fat, rock thing that was wearing Link's hat.
Sora didnt let the strange appearance of Link's transformation get to him. Sora ran towards Goron Link and slashed down with both Keyblades, only for them to be stopped completely by Goron Link. Goron Link punched Sora in the face with a Goron Falcon Punch.
Sora fell backwards and hit the ground. Goron Link curled into a ball rolled right towards Sora. Sora held the two Keyblades in a 'X' style for defense. Goron Link was only getting faster and faster each second. Soon, spikes started to form. One of the spikes forced the 'X' formation of Sora's Keyblades down and Goron Link rammed right into Sora. Goron Link turned to try to ram into him again, but Sora got back up and started slashing at Goron Link.
Goron Link stopped rolling and turned. Sora was still slashing away, but Goron Link showed no real sign of damage. Goron Link slammed down on Sora then grabbed him by the back of his jacket and threw Sora away. Whilst in the air, Sora threw his two Keyblades at Goron Link. Goron Link knocked away both Keyblades and ran towards Sora.
Sora landed and the two Keyblades returned to him. But the second one disappeared. Sora's Valor form was up. Time for another.
Sora used his second Drive Form, his Wisdom Form. Goron Link rolled towards Sora again, but Sora was prepared. He casted Blizzaga again and waited. Goron Link got close enough and the attack was set in motion.
Goron Link was frozen in ice. Sora used Firaga on Goron Link, damaging him a lot. Goron Link got up and reached for his face, taking off the mask. Link then took the Zora's Mask and put it one. Soon, Link was teas formed into Zora Link.
Both heroes got a good look at each other before Sora started firing away with his magic. Zora Link managed to dodge the magic and threw the twin elbow blades at Sora.
Sora blocked one, but the other one cut his side, ripping threw his jacket and skin. Sora grasped his side and fired more magic at Link. After all, it was just a scratch.
Zora Link's elbow blades came back to him and he started to block the incoming magic.
The Zora started side jumping to avoid being burned to death, but Sora wasn't letting up, and the fact his magic was curving didn't help Zora Link at all.
Zora Link threw his two elbow blades again. Sora was prepared this time and blocked both of them, but Zora Link ran towards Sora and when the elbow blades returned, he slashed downward. Sora jumped out of the way and used another Firaga. Zora Link blocked it again. Sora wanted to cast another, but he was low on magic.
Sora's Wisdom Form dissipated, making Sora his normal self. Sora had more left within him and he activated his Limit Form.
Zora Link didn't notice anything too different from his normal form and his Limit Form. But oh well. Zora Link slashed at Sora, but Sora used Sonic Blade and Zora Link missed.
Sora was running faster than usual. Zora Link threw his two elbow blades at Sora, but they missed. Zora Link knew he couldn't his Sora like this, so he took off the Zora's Mask and put on...the Deku Mask...yay....
Deku Link watched Sora ran circles around him. He tried shooting a Deku Nut at Sora, but it was too slow. Deku Link tried again, but to no avail.
Sora's Sonic Blade was running out, so he quickly dashed towards Deku Link and used Zantetsuken. Deku Link ducked from what would've been an impalment. He saw an opening and spat acid at Sora's Kingdom Key.
Sora backed away and noticed the acid was quickly eating away at the Keyblade's blade. Sora quickly dissipated out of the Limit Form. He looked at the Keyblade, and it was fine again.
Link took off the Deku Mask and faced Sora. He was done with the transformations, right?

Link frowned when Sora used yet another Drive Form. Sora was now wearing yellow clothing and had two Keyblades. Though the second one was a different Keyblade than the one in his Valor Form. His Master Form.
Link put on a peculiar mask. Suddenly, Link started growing and growing. Link soon towered over Sora. Giant Link looked down at Sora.
Sora's mouth gapped open, but he knew two things. One: size doesn't matter. And two: the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Sora flew straight towards Link. Link tried stomping on Sora, but he used Aerial Dodge to avoid the attack. Link took out the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, which were also humongous, and slashed at Sora.
Sora barely dodge the Master Sword and flew towards the Hylian Shield. Link wondered where Sora had flown off to, unaware that Sora was running up his shield.
Link checked all around him and he spotted Sora reaching the top of the Hylian Shield. Link slammed the shield down, hoping to squish Sora like a bug, bu Sora flew upwards and used a combination of Firaga and Thundaga. The magic attack his Link in the face...er...mask, and it made him stagger backwards. Link shook his head and tried slashing at Sora.
Sora dodged again, but this time, Link struck Sora with the Hylain Shield, knocking him to the ground. Link was about to stomp on Sora, but he started shrinking back down to normal size as his Magic Meter was out of energy.
Link was only a few feet away from Sora. Link went to make sure that he was down for good. Sora made a small crater and was no longer in his Master Form.
Link started red walking away from his defeated opponent, but he only got about 2 feet away from the crater before he heard a noise. Link turned around and ran to check the crater. Only to find that Sora was no longer in it.

Link looked around. He could feel a dark presence loom around him. Only could only compare it to Ganondorf's presence.
Link eased up only a bit, but then a mighty force pushed him back. Link tumbled into the crater that Sora had made.
Link looked up and noticed what had kicked him. Standing before him was a darkness that was unlike any other. The shape and appearance told Link it was Sora, but he saw no Keyblade, the only color he could see was the yellow in his eyes. The thing gave off a dark aura and showed no signs of emotions. Anti Sora jumped down the crater. Dark clouds to formed and it started to rain.
Link held the Master Sword in offense. Anti Sora ran towards Link at speeds only on could describe as faster than lighting. Link swiped down with the Master Sword, but Anti Sora moved out of the way and started rapidly punching Link.
Sora finished hed the punches with a kick, making Link crash into the dirt that wasn't already wet from the rain. Anti Sora walked slowly and menacing towards the Hero of Hyrule.
Link could barely stand. He could feel that multiple bones had been broken. He need a new plan. Anti Sora clenched its fist and punched Link across the face. Link turned his head towards Anti Sora with his fist still on his face. Link was surrounded by purple aura. The Magic Armor was going to be put into good use.
Anti Sora's eyes winded and stepped back. Link got a tight grip on the Master Sword and stepped foward. Anti Sora rushed towards Link and started striking him, but Link didn't even flinch at the multiple strikes. Link did a spin attack and gave out a 'HYIA'.
Anti Sora was knocked back by the sword, and it really really hurt.
Link turned and faced Anti Sora. He held the Master Sword in the air and light surrounded it's blade. Link slashed horizontally and used the Skyward Strike.
Anti Sora raised his arms in an 'X' position, but the attack did a great amount of damage. Link walked towards Anti Sora and slashed down, striking his opponent. He slashed again and again. Anti Sora could barely bare through the power of the Master Sword.
Link struck upwards, knocking Anti Sora out of the crater. Link got out of the crater himself and was ready to finishing things. Link hopped in the air and did a fatal blow.
The he sound of impalment was heard.
*stop music*
The Master Sword was stabbed into Anti Sora's chest. However, Link couldn't give a victory smile, because he felt immense pain himself. He looked down to see Anti Sora had punched right through Link. Link didn't realize his Magic Meter ran out of energy. Link removed the Master Sword from Sora's chest, who had turned back to normal. Link fell backwards into the grass.
Blood pourd from both heroes. And to the two of them, it seemed like their time was up.

Sora opened his eyes to the sound of a familiar voice. It was painful for him to do so, but out of sheer curiosity, he turned his head to see who had spoken to him. It...it was Kairi.
"Don't...don't go, Sora...please.." She had tears in her eyes. Sora blinked. It surely was a hallucination, but...she seemed so real. And it wasn't just her. In the same light Kairi came in was Sora's friends. A goofy looking dog with a weird looking hat also had something to say. "This isn't where you go faking your death just to fool us, ok?" He spoke. The words were encouraging, but the way Goofy said them made Sora smile and chuckle.
Beside Goofy was a duck with an attitude. But the duck had a concern look on his face, he was also trying to hold back tears. "You...don't you give up now. You hear?" Donald said. Then, a peculiar mouse walked between the both of them. "Now, Sora. You can't just give up like this. You have to win. You've gotta." Mickey said. Behind Mickey was a boy with silver hair. "You're not one to give up, Sora. Especially to old Peter Pan over there." Riku said. Sora chuckled as he realized Link was similar in a way.
Mickey, spoke again, "You know it yourself, don't you? You can't lose, because you need to be there for them. You want to be there for them." Mickey waved his arm behind himself. Sora didn't notice anything, but more of his friends appeared. Aladdin, Alice, Jack Sparrow, TRON, Hercules, even Cloud. Everyone from Sora's adventures, they were all there to support him.
They all started cheering for Sora (Cloud actually just nodded). They gave Sora the motivation to get up and finish what he had started.
Like Sora, Link was also hearing things. "Don't...die...not now..." Link saw standing before him, was Princess Zelda. "You're our hero. Hyrule needs you...no, not just Hyrule. Every land needs you...I Need you." She spoke. Standing besides Zelda was Impa. "I've trained warriors who, even in the face of death, would do everything in their power to fight for what they believe in. Show me what your training has done for you." Said Impa. Link smiled...
A small blue fairy flew towards Link. "Hey...listen...don't give up...I wish I could be there to help, but I can't. But, you got this...b-because you're the hero of the ages...right?" Navi said, obviously trying to not cry. Besides Navi was Midna. "What are you doing? You look so pathetic, giving up like this? Come on. Show me that you're capable, even as a lone wolf." And besides Midna, was Fi. "Master Link, there is a 60% chance of your victory. You must take that percentage. I am experiencing an emotion that your people call 'saddness'. I do not wish to express it any longer. I want you to win, not because you're my master, but because you're my friend." She said. Zelda spoke out to Link again. "You have to win. All these people want you to live." Zelda waved her arm, and a mass of familiar faces appeared.
Llia, Aryall, Link's Grandmother, Medli, Makar, Saria, Ruto, and many many more. Everyone from Link's adventures was there, cheering him on.
Almost simultaneously, both Sora and Link got up. Sora casted Curaga on himself while Link drank his Grandma's Soup, every last drop of. Both felt the pain go away. Their wounds were healed and they were working at full strength.
They faced each other and both nodded. They knew things must end here, now. The rain picked up, Sora used his last Drive Form and was now in his Final Form, with two Keyblades floating by his side, he himself was leavtating, wearing white clothing, ready for Link's move.
Link took out the Fierce Deity's Mask and put it on. He struggled violently as what sounded like bones cracking could be heard. Link screamed out as he transformed into Fierce Deity Link. Being taller than normal, he held a double helix sword, had no shield, bore white armor, and a white hat. The pupils from his eyes were no longer there.
The the two looked at each other, both at their strongest. It was time the end things. To end this Death Battle.

The two started firing at each other with magic, creating colorful explosions.
Both had enough of that and ran/flew at each other and collided weapons. Fierce Deity Link was easily pushing Sora back. Sora flew over Fierce Deity Link's head and landed behind him. Fierce Deity Link jumped back and fired a beam out of his sword and towards Sora. Sora blocked it was a Keyblade and threw them both at Fierce Deity Link then flew towards him. Fierce Deity Link blocked both Keyblades and blocked a blow from Sora.
Fierce Deity Link kicked Sora away and fired more beams. Sora landed on the ground, but quickly flew up to avoid the beam. Sora returned fire by uses all of his elemental spells on Fierce Deity Link. Fierce Deity Link rolled out of the way and fired more beams.
Sora flew left, right, up, and down, but he couldn't find an opening to Link's bombardment of magic beams. Soon enough, Sora was struck by one of the beams and fell to the ground. Fierce Deity Link ran towards Sora and fired another beam. Sora used Reflect and reflected back at the warrior. Fierce Deity Link simply blocked it and continued on.
Sora was done keeping his distance. He flew towards Fierce Deity Link and the two clashed weapons with all their might. Like before, the sound of a weapon breaking was heard. It was Sora's.
Sora stumbled back as he saw that both Keybaldes were broken. In a flash of light, Sora was back to normal. His time was up.
Sora faced Fierce Deity Link and swung with the Kingdom Key. Fierce Deity Link simply swung and sliced the Kingdom Key in half. Fierce Deity Link kicked Sora away from his Keyblade and threw it up into the sky. Fierce Deity Link fired one last beam at it and the beam completely obliterated the Keyblade.
Link off the mask and turned to Sora. Link shield bashed Sora to the ground and jumped. Almost if it was on cue, lighting struck the Master Sword and Link stabbed it into Sora.

Thunder rored across the land. Blood came from Sora's mouth. Link removed the Master Sword and the rain started washing away the blood off of it. Link put his weapons away and walked away. Sora knew it was the end for him. "Goofy...Donald....Mickey....Riku....Kairi....guys....I'm....sorry..." Sora's eyes closed as his life ended.
Link heard Sora's voice. The softness and sorrow in his words. Though you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, tears fell down Link's face in the same motion as the rain. He had won, but he felt no satisfaction within his own victory.

Cole: WHAT!? HELL NO!! SORA CAN'T LOSE!
David: Why?
Cole: BECAUSE HE'S SORA!!!! THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!
David: Ok, look, just cause you like Sora more than Link doesn't mean Sora automatically wins.
Cole: Try saying that to all the raging Kingdom Heart fanboys!
David: I will. Eventually. This one's a very close one. Both Sora and Link were countering each other blow for blow. Both had their disadvantages and advantages. And in order to make things clear, we're going to use 9 categories to compare the two.
Cole: Oh they'd better be reasonable.
Strength:
David: When we're taking their weaponry away, Link appears to be stronger than Sora, being able to wrestle Goron's and throw down bulls.
Sora: But if we give them their weaponry, Sora is much stronger being able to dice whole buildings like nothing.
David: Link can transform into a Goron and the Giants Mask do grant Link insane strength, but Sora still outclasses them with the Valor and Master Form's strength.
Cole: Point goes to Sora.
Sora: 1 Link: 0
Speed.
Cole: GOTTA GO FAST!
David: Shut it....ahem. Speed is very important. And two Link's credit, he can use the Pegasus Boots and Bunny Hood to run very fast.
Cole: But Sora is...much much faster. He was able to dodge bullets! Bullets! And he can fly at high speeds. Link can't do that stuff! Point goes to Sora!
Sora: 2 Link: 0
Durability:
Cole:....
David:......do you really need an explanation? Oh well..
Cole: Sora can tank hits from Hercules. Let that sink in.
David: Link focuses more on defense than anything. Point goes to Sora.
Sora: 3 Link: 0
Defense:
David: These two do have a lot of defensive options, but out of the two of them, Link's defenses are more sufficient. Not just with his indestructible Hylain Shield, but with his Mirror Shield and Nayru's Love. But his greatest defense is the Magic Armor. This can make Link invincible for a long while depending on how much rupees or magic he has.
Cole: While Sora has Reflect and can block with his Kingdom Key, he still needs to top that.
David: Point goes to Link.

Magic/Items:
Cole: Comparing Sora's Magic to Link's black hole of a pocket? Sounds fun!
David: It's hard to choose a winner here. Sora is the bigger spell caster, being able to use magic for elemental attacks and can heal himself. Link also has a lot of magic under his belt. Magic abilities like Farore's Wind, Nayru's Love, and Din's Fire.
Cole: While Sora has those awesome Drive Forms of his.
David: In turn, Link has the transformation masks
Cole: Sora has his Limits, while Link has his items.
David: With all of this, it's impossible to choose a winner, so it's a tie.

Swordplay skills:
David: This one was easy to decide. Sora's 'whack your enemy until they die' fighting style is unique, but that's about it.
Cole: Link has many moves and skills that he can use to his advantage. He also has unique sword techniques that he's learned from many master swordsmen. Sora, on the other hand, is a self taught Keyblade wielder.
David: Link has a very unpredictable move set while Sora's is very predictable.
Cole: And while Sora can swing fast, Link can actually swing faster. Don't believe me? Play A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds and you'll see what I mean.
David: Point goes to Link.

Experience:
David: This one was also easy to decide. Link has ten generations of experience. While Sora on the other hand has saved the universe like what, twice?
Cole: Saving the universe might be a big deal, it's nothing compared to ten generations of experience.
David: Point easily goes to Link.

Weaponry:
Cole: When we say weaponry, we're compare the Master Sword to the Kingdom Key.
David: The Kingdom Key does have a stronger bond than the Master Sword has. Being able to be thrown like a boomerang and should it be lost in battle, it'll come back to Sora's hand in mere seconds.
Cole: Only time it can't is when it's broken, which is possible.
David: Of course, if it's broken it can repair itself, but when it's been completely obliterated, well, then Sora's powerless. Why?
Cole: Because the Keyblade is what gives Sora his powers. Link on the other hand doesn't always rely on his Master Sword to do his work.
David: Then there's the Ultima Weapon, which is four times stronger than the Kingdom Key.

David: They do seem evenly matched at this point, but the Four Sword can definitely break the Ultima Weapon, especially if there's three others just like it. Point goes to Link.

David: Sora's Final Form is very powerful as it's a mixture between all of his Drive Forms, but even stronger.
Cole: Everything about this form is awesome. The two Keyblades that are being controlled by telekinesis, that fact that he can fly on his own! It's just too cool!
David: Fierce Deity Link, on the other hand, is just way more powerful. Not only does he get a sword stronger than the Master Sword, he's strength and power are insane!
Cole: If you recall, Fierce Deity Link killed Majora's Mask. The same being who pulled the entire moon down from its orbit!
David: And Fierce Deity Link is stronger than the Four Giants who held the moon without straining. And the Final Form has a time limit while Fierce Deity Link doesn't. At this point in time, it's straight foward. Point goes to Link.

David: Well, after all of that, are you convinced?
Cole: Hell no! I refuse to let my favorite character lose to an elf! I mean, Sora beat Sephiroth!
David: Don't over look that feat. Yes, Sora did win, but after the fight, Sephiroth showed no real damage. In fact, Sephiroth asked for Cloud and stated that 'only Cloud can beat him'.
Cole: What...? But...but...what about Sora's speed!?
David: That's doesn't mean much for someone like Link who fought Onox, who's faster than lighting.
Cole: But Link didn't have a mask to counter Anti Sora!
David: He didn't need it. All he needed was the Master Sword and Magic Armor.
Cole: But...he's...Sora...
David: Give up?
Cole: *sighs* Yes....
David: Well?
Cole: Ahem....Sora just didn't have the key to victory...
David: The winner is Link.
