Axel: Alright, the combatants are set. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Felix: It's time, for a Death Battle!!!
Red sat on top of Mt. Silver, watching the sun set. It was a beautiful sight to behold. Problem was, well, there was no one else there with him. No rival, no friends, no family at all. Just him, sitting at the mountain. Red stood up, and started walking, most likely finding a good place to rest for the night.
That's when a figure was passing by. The man had on a high school uniform, a sheathed katana, and silver hair. His eyes were grey, and he seemed pretty expressionless. The man stopped in front of Red, who stared at him confused. Barely anyone comes here anymore, and those who do normally battle Red.
The figure was a bit confused as well, but he wanted to continue with his journey. He walked passed Red, not minding the Pokémon Trainer a single bit. "Hold it." Red said to the man. The high school boy stopped and turned around with a rawly noticeable 'hm?' "Who are you?" Red asked. The boy was silent for a bit, before finally answering Red's question.
"My name is Yu Narukami." Red stood there silently, letting the name 'Yu Narukami' fill his head. Red looked at Yu, clenching onto a Pokéball. "Let's battle." Yu, not really wanting to battle, sighed as he unsheathed his katana, throwing the scabbard behind him. "Alright. I won't hold back." Yu said.
Yu ran towards Red, charging electricity into his katana and swinging it. Red's face grew pale as Narukami was about to attack him. Red barely avoided the attack, staggering back as Yu's katana barely missed his face. "What do you think you're doing!? We're not supposed to fight!" Red said. Yu looked confused by Red's frantic comment. "You said 'let's battle'. Do you not want to fight?" Asked Yu. Red straightened his posture. "I meant a Pokémon battle!" He said. "Pokémon?" Yu asked himself.
"Go, Pikachu!" Red shouted as he threw a Pokéball, unleashing Pikachu. Yu finally understood what Red meant. Suddenly, Yu Narukami was surrounded by blue light. The Fool's Arcana card hovered down to him. "Persona!" Yu said, crushing the card.
A humanoid figure started to form behind the Wild Card. The being held a large spear, wore a strangely fashionable suit, and had a helmet cover its face. "Whoa...what kind of Pokémon is that?" Red asked, taking his Pokédex out to see if he could scan it. The Pokédex couldn't get any information, so Red put it away and focused on the battle at hand. "Alright." Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" Following his command, Pikachu jumped into the air and summoned a large thunderbolt above the Persona.
The attack hit, but it didn't do much to Yu's Persona. Yu smirked, thinking he'd return the favor. "Izanagi!" Yu shouted. Izanagi stretched its arm forward, using Zio, summoned a bolt of lighting to strike Pikachu. Pikachu jumped out of the way, avoiding Izanagi's attack. "Hasn't this guy ever seen a Pikachu? Electric attacks won't be super effective at all." Red said to himself.
"Alright Pikachu, use Iron Tail!" Red commanded. Pikachu jumped in the air, its tail suddenly becoming a metallic like alloy. Izanagi disappeared behind Yu, soon reappearing, flying towards Pikachu. "Pika!" The Pokémon said, clashing its tail against Izanagi's spear, which was using Cleave to counter Iron Tail. Izanagi forced Pikachu back, making it land on the ground. "Ok, use Quick Attack." Red said.
Pikachu started running towards Izanagi, whom was lowering to the ground. Yu nor Izanagi could track Pikachu's movements. The Electric Type Pokémon rammed into Izanagi, pushing the Persona back. Although he wasn't the one being attacked, Yu staggered back as he felt Izanagi's pain. However, it wasn't going to get Yu down.
Yu casted Rakduna on Pikachu, lowering the Pokémon's defense. This didn't go unnoticed by Red. (Whatever he's planning, it can't be good. I have to take out his Pokémon quickly.) Red thought. "Pikachu, use Volt Tackle!" Said Red. Pikachu started charging towards Izanagi, and the Pokémon cloaked itself with electricity. "Pika pika pika pika PIKA!!!!" Shouted Pikachu before jumping towards Izanagi.
Izanagi swung its spear, letting it collide with the electrified Pikachu. Even though the edges of the blade was sharp, Pikachu was showing no signs of damage from the spear, but this did give Yu enough time to think. "Izanagi!" Yu shouted. Izanagi summoned another lighting bolt, and the attack struck Pikachu, knocking him down to the ground. "Pika...chu..." Pikachu said weakly. Izanagi picked Pikachu off the ground, whom took far too much damage than it wanted. The recoil damage from Volt Tackle and Zio really did a number on this poor Pokémon.
Izanagi threw the Pokémon in the air then, at the right moment, hit Pikachu with the back of its spear, sending Pikachu back to Red. "Pikachu! No!" Red said. Pikachu couldn't hear Red, as it had fainted from the attack. Red took the Pokéball and returned Pikachu to it. "Alright....go Venusaur!" Red shouted, throwing another Pokéball. Venusaur appeared from the ball, ready for its first attack.
Yu, noticing the sudden change of Pokémon, decided it would only be fair to switch his Personas. "Change! Pyro Jack!" Yu said, crushing the Magician's Arcana card. Izanagi dissipated, but in its place, a smaller Persona had been summoned. A pumpkin with a witch's hat and a lantern, it looked more like a tricker treater than a threat. Looking at the Persona's appearance, Red figure led it must be a Ghost Type or something like that, but he didn't want to make a wrong move.
"Ok, Venusaur, uses Frenzy Plant!" Red shouted. Venusaur summoned an enormous tree, and knocked it over to fall on Pyro Jack. Yu thought careful whilst in the heat of the moment. Pyro Jack wouldn't be able to burn the tree down in time, so Yu's best option was to get Pyro Jack to move. Pyro Jack swerved around as the tree was about to crash on it. "Pyro Jack!" Yu shouted. The Persona's lantern lite up, and unleashed flames upon Venusaur, whom tried to avoid Agilao, but couldn't. The attack hit and...It's super effective!
Venusaur was at low health, but Red got an idea. "Venusaur, use Giga Drain!" Red said. Following the command, Venusaur used the attack, gaining some of its health back, but how long could it hold out? "Pyro Jack!" Yu shouted, making the Persona use Agilao against the Pokémon. "Use Sludge Bomb!" Red shouted. Venusaur fired a big chunk of sludge of the incoming fire attack, miraculously putting out the fire. "Now use Sleep Powder!" Venusaur scattered a big cloud of sleep-induced dust around itself and Pyro Jack. However, it didn't do anything to the Persona. "W-what!?" Red said in surprise.
"Pyro Jack!" Yu shouted, making the Persona use Agilao again. The attack hit Venusaur. It did massive amounts of damage, making the Pokémon faint. "No!" Red said, returning Venusaur to its Pokéball. "Go...Blastoise!" Red said, throwing another Pokéball. Blastoise appears from it and hit the ground. "Change! Rakshasa!" Yu shouted, crushing another Tarot card. Pyro Jack disappeared and was replaced by a different figure. A samurai looking person wielding two swords.
"Hydro Cannon!" Red shouted. Blastoise fired water from its two cannons on its back. Rakshasa flew upwards, avoiding the attack, but changed direction towards Blastoise. Blastoise hid in its shell right before Rakshasa used Kill Rush, swinging its blades, trying to slice open the shell, but to no avail. Blastoise got back to its feet and used Flash Cannon, knocking Rakshasa back. "Great! Now use Blizzard!" Red commanded. Blastoise summoned a blizzard after a great roar, and focused it at Rakshasa.
The attack was too big to dodge, and it hit the Persona. Unfortunately for the Wild Card, it was super effective. Yu felt immense pain from the attack, as well as a burning cold feeling. "Yes! It worked! Do it again, Blastoise!" "Rakshasa!" Yu shouted. Blastoise used Blizzard again, however, Rakshasa was able to avoid the attack this time, using Gale Slash to ice through the ice with ease, but Rakshasa wasn't done, as it struck Blastoise with its swords.
"Blastoise, use Flash Cannon!" Red said. Blastoise started to gather its light energy. "Come on!" Yu said, commanding Rakshasa to do Brain Shake, striking Blastoise with its blades. The Pokémon barely budged from the Persona's attack, and it finally used Flash Cannon...only for Rakshasa to counter it thanks to Counter. Striking Blastoise with both blades, Rakshasa casted Power Charge, giving it a boost in strength. "Rakshasa!" Yu shouted. Rakshasa used Kill Rush again, followed by Brain Shake, slicing Blastoise with more powerful strikes than before, and making the Pokémon faint.
(He's taken down three Pokémon already. His Pokémon must be really powerful...) Red though. (Looks like I'm gonna have to bring out the other big guns) "Go Snorlax!" Red said after making Blastoise return to its Pokéball and throwing another on. A fat cat looking Pokémon came out of it and hit the ground, causing it to shake. "What even is that..?" Yu asked after trying to not lose his balance. Yu decided to change his attack as well, summoning Kohryu in place of Rakshasa. "Whoa...a Dragon Type, huh?" Red asked himself. "Alright, Snorlax. Use Shadow Ball!" "Kohryu!"
Snorlax charged up and fired Shadow Ball at Kohryu, whom swerved around the attack, returning fire with Ziodyne. A larger lighting bolt struck Snorlax, but it wasn't enough to stop it. Yu casted Mind Charge, as to make his next attack more powerful. "Use Crunch!" Red said. Snorlax started running, surpersinly, towards Kohryu. The Pokémon grabbed the Persona near the head and started to crush it with its fingers.
Yu felt great pain near his neck, he needed Snorlax out of here. Now. "Koh...ryu!" Yu managed to say despite the pain. Kohryu used Ziodyne again, which was more powerful than before, forcing Snorlax away whilst damaging it greatly. "Don't give up! Giga Impact!" Red shouted. Snorlax started running towards Kohryu, slamming into the Persona with all of its weight, making it as well as Yu for some reason crash into the wall.
The Wild Card slumped down a bit. However, Kohryu got the ground hard. Of course, Yu knew not to judge things by their cover, but Snorlax definitely caught him off guard. But not for long. Kohryu rose back up, and by Yu's command, casted Mediarahan. Yu felt full of energy again, but still felt a bit drained still. Even though Spell Master was in effect, he was still using up a bit of SP. Yu fixed his glasses' position, knowing now that he could no longer let this new...thing fight him.
"Kohryu!" Yu shouted. Lighting rained down on Snorlax, who couldn't avoid it. The combination of Mind Charge and the already in effect Electric Amp managed to make Snorlax faint. "Dang! Snorlax too? Just...who is this guy?" Red asked himself, returning Snorlax to its Pokéball. "Ok. Lapras! I choose you!" Throwing another Pokéball, Lapras appeared from it. Of course, Yu decided to switch Persona's as well. "Change! Beelzebub!" He said, crushing another Tarot Card.
Kohryu was replaced by a enormous looking fly, holding a cane with a skull on it. "Whoa. That's the strangest looking Bug Type I've ever seen..." Red said. "Ok. Lapras, use Brine!" Lapras used the attack, only for Beelzebub to avoid it with relative ease. Beelzebub used Mabufudyne, striking Lapras with ice....it's not very effective...
"Alright, Lapras! Use Blizzard!" Lapras summoned a large Blizzard and focused it towards Beelzebub. "Not this time." Yu said. The attack didn't effect the opposing Beelzebub. "What? It's immune!?" Red said. "Beelzebub!" Yu said, making his Persona and use Agidyne on the Pokémon. The attack did a moderate amount of damage to Lapras. "Use Psychic!" Suddenly, Beelzebub was struck with a powerful force of telekinetic energy. "Now use Body Slam!" Red said. Lapras jumped into the air, attempting to crush Beelzebub like a bug. It seemed fitting.
The Pokémon almost hit the Persona, but it moved out of the way before Lapras could crush it. "Beelzebub!" Yu shouted. Darkness started to surround Lapras, and it didn't go unnoticed by Red. "Lapras! Get out of there! Lapras jumped just as Mamudoon was about to take its life. "Now!" Yu said. Beelzebub used Megidolaon. Light rained from the sky, focusing it on Lapras. Unfortunately, the attack was too big to avoid, and it hit the Pokémon, making it faint on one hit.
"No!" Red said, running to his Pokémon. Lapras was in horrible condition, so much so that Red wouldn't be surprised if it had died even. Red returned Lapras to its Pokéball, and took out one last one. "We can do this..." Red said, standing up and throwing the Pokéball. Charizard appeared from it and landed on the ground, followed by a roar. "Persona." Yu said, switching Personas. He crushed the Judgement Arcana card, summoning his new Persona. What could only be described as a demon with three sets of wings. It was as if Yu brought the devil himself to fight.
"Charizard, use Fire Blast!" Charizard spewed fire from its mouth towards Yu's Persona. The fire hit, but it barely did much despite the Persona not having any resistance to it. "Lucifer!" Yu shouted. Lucifer used Bufudyne, dealing moderate damage to Charizard. "Charizard, use Flare Blitz!" Red commanded. Charizard lifted off the ground and flew towards Lucifer. Charizard spun in a spiral pattern, cloaking itself in flames, striking Lucifer. "Come on!" Yu shouted, commanding Lucifer to use Brave Blade. Lucifer punched Charizard hard, causing it severe damage. Charizard went flying, not in the way it wanted, and crashed into a wall.
The Pokémon fell to the ground, heavily damaged. "Charizard!! Nooo!!" Red ran towards his Pokémon, checking on it. Charizard hadn't fainted yet, but Red knew that it wouldn't last long against Yu's new Persona. Red gave Charizard a full restore, healing the Pokémon completely. "Ok buddy. We're gonna beat this guy...together." Red said. Charizard nodded and stood up. Red tapped on his Mega Ring. "I believe in you, Charizard. Let's do this!"
Charizard's Charizardite X reacted to the Mega Stone, transforming Charizard into Mega Charizard X. "Huh...neat." Yu said. "Ok, Charizard. Use Dragon Pulse!" Red commanded. Mega Charizard X fired a shock wave of energy towards Lucifer, who managed to block it with its arms. "Use Swift!" Red shouted. Mega Charizard X fired multiple stars at Lucifer. The Persona took off, but the Stars curved and followed him. "Alright! It's distracted! Use Air Slash!" Red said. The Mega Evolved Pokémon flew up towards Lucifer, which was still trying to avoid Swift.
Mega Charizard X slashed the distracted Persona with Air Slash. The attack was so powerful, it sliced not only Lucifer, but the clouds above the Persona. This stopped Lucifer, letting the stars ram into it, ending Swift. "Yeah! Now use Slash!" Mega Charizard X used Slash, slicing Lucifer with incredible power. "Flare Blitz!" The Pokémon spiraled down towards the Persona, surrounding itself with flames.
Mega Charizard X rammed into Lucifer, bringing the Persona down to earth. Lucifer fell, almost about to crash onto Yu, who was feeling an almost intolerable burning feeling on his chest. Yu saw Lucifer about to crash down on him, so the Wild Card rolled away. Regardless, the Persona crashed down onto the ground, and Mega Charizard X landed next to Red. "Alright. Finish them with Blast Burn!" Mega Charizard X used Blast Burn, creating a fiery blue explosive all around Yu and Lucifer, engulfing them both in flames. "Yes! We did it!" Red said joyfully. He hugged his Charizard, happy about their victory. "Ok...now...we gotta get to a Pokémon Center." Said Red.
*stop music*
The flames were starting to dye down. The coldness of the mountain in combination of the wind made sure of that. But Yu laid on the ground, burnt up, his glasses cracked, and his Persona no longer there. He never thought he'd meet his fate against someone like Red. He didn't prove to be too much trouble until his Pokémon Mega Evolved. It was over now, though. It was clear to Yu that he had lost to this opponent. Here...he would die. The light of life that he had kept a firm grasp on started to loosen and leave...
"Yu!" A voice called out to him. "Yu! Come on, partner, get up! You can't quit like this! Show 'em what you got!" Yu recognized the voice all to well. "Yosuke..." "Get up!" Said another voice. "All that training for what, nothing? Our leader would never go down this way." Chie's much needed encouraging voice sounded through Yu's head. Another voice spoke to Yu. "Narukami, I believe in you. So get up for me just this once, ok?" The soft words spoken, Yu guessed, must've belonged to Yukiko. However, a much louder one countered the quietness. "Come on, dude! You can kick this guy's ass no problem!" The words obviously belonged to Kanji Tatsumi. Who else would be so rambunctious?
"S-sensei! You have to get up! I don't want to be alone with Yosuke forever!" Teddie cried. Yu could only chuckles at Teddie's complaint. "Senpai! Get up! Please! Don't leave me like this! Not after what we've been through." Spoke Rise on the verge of tears. "We're all counting on you, Senpai. Don't give up, don't stay down!" Said Naoto. "StupidIhateyouworstWildCard! Why are you laying down getting your ass handed to you!? Get up and finish this!" Complained Marie. "You've saved my life in more ways than one, haven't you? I was supposed to take care of you, but you took care of me. Maybe that's how we were able to pull it off in the end. How we were able to truly become a family." Said his Uncle, Dojima. "Big bro! You'll be ok, won't you? I know you'll come back! I know it! Don't leave me! I'll be a good girl, I promise!" Cried Yu's cousin, Nanako.
Yu knew they were all right. Each an every one of them. And he needed to live up to their expectations. That was the truth.
*stop music*
Red and Charizard were about to leave, but the Pokémon Trainer turned around, only to see the Persona Wielder get back up. "What...? How can this be!?" Red said. Charizard turned its attention to Yu as well. "An attack like that...it should've been enough to kill him." Yu started walking towards the two, but then stopped. He removed his cracked glasses and threw them aside. He was suddenly surrounded by a bigger blue light, and the World Arcana hovered over his hand. "Persona." Yu said, crushing the card. Izanagi appeared behind him, but it suddenly transfigured into Izanagi-no-Okami. "No way...it Mega Evolved!"

Yu stood there, Izanagi-no-Okami behind him facing Mega Charizard X. "C-Charizard! Use Fire Blast!" Mega Charizard X fired more fire at Yu and his Persona, but they did absolutely nothing. They had received no apparent damage. "Flare Blitz!" Red said. The Pokémon used Flare Blitz on the Persona, but to no avail. Mega Charizard X flew back to Red, knowing it's Trainer would have another move ready. "Blast Burn!" Mega Charizard X used Blast Burn again, making a humongous blue explosion like before.
However, Yu Narukami and Izanagi-no-Okami weren't even fazed by it. Yu walked out of the blue fire and continued to walk towards Red. Mega Charizard X flew towards Yu, but Izanagi-no-Omani grabbed the Pokémon and threw it at Red, who only barely avoided it. Mega Charizard X stopped itself and landed next to Red. Yu was close enough, and the Wild Card plunged his katana into the ground, somehow creating a shock wave, electrifying Red, but Mega Charizard X was resistant to that attack, but as it got closer to Yu, the electricity was becoming more painful to the point where it was stunned also.
Mega Charizard X took off and charged attack, but Izanagi-no-Okami sliced off both of its wings without effort, making it fall on Red. Red survived, but he could barely move. Charizard got up off his trainer, but fell next to him. "Charizard...are you alright?" Red asked weakly. Yu was prepared for his final move.
"A thousand died while a million were born." Yu said. Izanagi appeared in the sky above them, holding out its spear. The spear spun in a circle, glowing with power. "Behold....THE TRUTH!" Yu shouted. Light shinned upon them, and a 'missile' of energy rained down from the sky, aiming to crash on Red and Charizard. "Charizard....." Red said. Charizard managed to crawl to Red, huggin him with its head. "I'm....sorry..."
Myriad Truths hit the Trainer and the Pokémon, completely obliterating them. Yu stood there, Izanagi-no-Okami lowered down behind him. Yu panted, as his fight was finally over.
Felix: Noooooo!! Red was so cool!!!
Axel: This was pretty close, but at the same time, Yu's victory was pretty obvious.
Felix: Having 6 Pokémon take on 6 Personas seems fair on paper, but Yu's Personas had too much going for them.
Axel: Not only did Yu's Personas have a more variety of different moves, but they had moves that could buff themselves up and debuff others. While it's true that Pokémon could do the same, they don't have moves that do it as often.
Felix: Not only that, but Yu's Personas can bind magic and agility, making it so a Pokémon can't attack in a specific way.
Axel: Of course, both Pokémon and Personas can resist or even be immune to specific attacks, but Personas can absorb elemental attacks, like fire or electricity.
Felix: But what really gave Red and his Pokémon a big disadvantage was in terms of weaknesses.
Axel: Both Red and Yu take an advantage of an enemy's weakness, however, because the Pokédex could not analyze Yu's Personas, and Yu didn't have Teddie or Rise exploit the weaknesses of Red's Pokémon, they both had little to work with.
Felix: But that doesn't mean that Personas don't still have an advantage. Not only did they have less weaknesses than the Pokémon, they also had less specific weaknesses.
Axel: While it's not always clear what weaknesses a Pokémon has, you could more often than not tell because of their Type. Because of this, Pokémon's weaknesses are constant based on the Types they are. Persona's lack such a weakness.
Felix: A Persona doesn't really have a type, but some do specialize in specific moves. For an example, Izanagi specializes in electricity, but is weak to Wind.
Axel: But another Persona can specialize in the same skill, but wouldn't be weak to the same attack.
Felix: It's also because of Type Effectiveness that gave Red bad judgment calls. Because he couldn't judge Persona's of their Types because the Pokédex was useless, but also because their attacks can be inconsistent, he could only judge a Persona by their appearance.
Axel: While Yu couldn't really guess a weakness for Red's Pokémon, his Persona's attacks were more than powerful enough to make up for it.
Felix: Hell yeah they were! Beelzebub was able to destroy all of Naoto's dungeon by using a casual Megidolaon. That kinda far outclasses any of Red's Pokémon's durability feats.
Axel: And the final nail in the coffin was the difference between Mega Charizard X and Izanagi-no-Okami. Both gained a power boost, but Izanagi-no-Okami was just much more powerful. Not only is it not weak to anything, it resists everything but Almighty attacks, moves that Mega Charizard X doesn't have, or any Pokémon for that matter.
Felix: And before using Myriad Truths, Yu and Izanagi-no-Okami are completely invulnerable. This gave Red and Mega Charizard X nothing to work with, thus easily giving Yu the victory. Red just couldn't handle the Truth.
Axel: The winner is Yu Narukami.
