The storm had gotten worse. Much worse than he thought it would've been. Hershel Layton and Luke Triton, Layton's underling, ran to the Professor's home. If they didn't hurry, they might get a cold, so run they did. Only a few minutes passed before two duo made it. They both panted for a bit before Layton pulled out the key to the home.
However, as he was about to unlock the door and settle down for tea, a gunshot was heard. The gunfire caught the two off guard, making them jump a bit. "Professor..?" Luke said, obviously scared. Professor Layton didn't say a single thing before dashing off. "P-professor! Wait!" Luke said. Although he was hesitant at first, Luke made up his mind quickly and ran after Layton.
Layton figured where the shot came and turned a corner sharply, not stopping to. If had, the killer might get away. Luke tried making the turn, almost falling over. "Professor! Wait!" Luke shouted. Layton stopped and turned to Luke. "Come on!" He said, waiting for Luke to catch up. Once he did, the duo ran towards the scene.
The scene was awful. A woman laid in on the ground, blood pouring from underneath her. Luke looked away for a second. The scene was a bit unbearable to see, but unfortunately, it was what it was. Professor Layton knelt down to check the body. She was warm, but they had heard the gunshot like a minute ago, so it was no surprise. A bullet hole was located on her head. Exactly in between the eyes. It had to have been either a very precise aim, or whatever gun was used right touching her head, or close enough to make a perfect shot like this.
Layton stood up, knowing that this mystery was going to have to be solved. Layton turned to Luke, who was obviously wondering what they were going to do. "Luke. We have another mystery to solve." Layton said. Luke nodded. "Let's head back-" Layton was cut off by lighting flashing, revealing two silhouettes for a moment. Layton turned quickly towards the two. He stood between the shadowy figures and Luke, making sure Triton's son wouldn't be harmed.
The taller figure looked at the scene. The women, the shot, the Professor. The figure saw him before, walking down the ally, passing them. "So it was you." The tall figure spoke, not revealing himself yet. Layton knew exactly what was going on. He was being framed for murder. "My good man, I can assure you I did not kill this women."
The shadowy figure stepped out of the shadows. He wore a blue suit with a red tie, and a small, gold badge clipped onto it. His hair was pulled backed, giving it a spiked look. All the man did in response to Layton's comment was point and shouted one word.
