Cain Lin 301A
Cain sat down at his desk, mildly irritated at himself for failing Dark Incantations his first time around. But he supposed that was his fault, Cain admitted to himself. The previous semester had been... mildly hectic to put it lightly. Cain sighed and arranged his books and pens the way he wanted and looked around at the several changes to the classroom. At Cain’s side sat Splashdown, the fox familiar also looking around with interest glittering in his blue eyes.
He inhaled the cedar-pine smell and felt himself relax ever so slightly as the door opened and the rather tall avian teacher strolled in and introduced himself as Dex. After greeting the class with a formal and moderately friendly tone, Dex dove right into the first lesson.
Professor Dex explained the idea behind summoning and sigils in a slightly different way than Professor Selene had, even offering a slightly different selection of malevolent entities to use as subjects for the assignment. As the only student taking

Cain accepted the seed and listened carefully to the instructions Professor Selene gave to the class, making sure to take proper notes. This seemed like it would be a fairly interesting lesson to be sure!
After the day’s lessons had concluded, Cain and Splashdown wandered around the dorm building, looking for a suitable place to plant the seed. Vokun sat on his shoulder, looking about. After a moment, the shadow bird flew to the ground and scratched at a spot.
“Here? You sure?” Cain asked, tilting his head. In response, Vokun nodded and Splashdown darted forward and dug a small hole. Cain shrugged and placed the seed, Splashdown quickly burying it, knocking over the small beaker of water directly onto the mound.
“Okay, we’re supposed to talk to it...” Cain mused. “Singing also works, she said, so...” he said aloud, before kneeling and giving the seed a quick pat. “I’ll be right back!” With that, Cain darted off to his do

Cain wandered around the campus after class, mildly conflicted about the instructions given to him. “I gotta trick a friend? But… “ he sighed. Cain didn’t much want to hurt one of the few friends he had at the school, and there was the Hippocratic Oath, “first do no harm” to take into consideration.
Cain didn’t realize that, so lost in his meandering, that he was walking near the old Chronomancy building, now converted into a hotel for visitors to the academy. With no warning, he blindly collided with someone, causing both to fall to the ground.
“Oh I am so sorry!” Cain quickly clambered to his feet and rushed over to the other fallen person. “I-wait…” Cain squinted at them, recognizing them as “Eddy?”
“Cain?” The zombie stood and gazed back. “Dude, it’s good to see you!” Eddy rushed forward and wrapped Cain in a tight hug, which Cain returned, patting each-other on the bac

LIN 303-A (Cain, Splashdon, and the Cave crystal)
Cain waited patiently for his turn to enter the forest, Splashdown at his feet eager to run in but restraining himself. They waited for the students in front of them to go before trailing behind into the dimly lit cave. “You ready bud?”
Splashdown gave a yip and a nod in response. With that, the two headed inside away from the light and the rest of the class. Like the river the fox called home, Splashdown nimbly lept from foothold to foothold, easily finding the path of least resistance for Cain to follow.
Cain meanwhile was glad he had left his walking stick back in his room in the Abyss dorms. With any luck the furniture wouldn’t eat it like it had with his second-favorite pair of boots (now reduced to leather scraps). Shaking the thought aside, he glanced back the way he came, tapeta lucida in his eyes glinting slightly. A sharp bark startled Cain back to the dark, and he continued forward.
Several minutes passed before they reached a modest chamber, at the entranc

Cain carefully wrote the Spanish-elven word “Vaciar” in the received notebook as Professor Selene, listening carefully to her warnings about leaving the paper on for too long. he didn’t want to drain a tree out of so much energy that it died on the spot (and then potentially fell on him-though that could be fixed with makeshift scaffolding). Shaking his head to clear the thoughts, Cain focused on the remainder of the lesson.
Half an hour or so later, Cain wandered through the forest, looking for a suitable tree to apply the spell to, Splashdown trailing behind him. The blue fox occasionally darted away to smell something, but eventually returned to Cain’s side. “Too young… dead log… Hmm.” He stopped at a decent-sized pine tree. “You’ll do,  I think!” Cain pressed a hand to the coarse bark. “And I’m sorry for this.”
With an upward gesture, Cain erected several sturdy shadow tendrils to hold the tree

Cain browsed the bookshelf for an ideal entity to summon. He didn’t want something too powerful, but at the same time Cain wanted something challenging. “What to pick, what to pick…” he mused.
After a moment, Cain selected an old classic entity: Sadako Yamamura and removed the book from its shelf before returning to his desk.
After class, he brought Abel out to the edge of the forest, followed close behind by Vokun, who sat perched on Cain’s shoulder, and Splashdown, who sat at attention.
“So… lemme get this straight,” Abel began, fingering the hem of his shirt nervously. “You need to summon a demon and fight it?”
“More or less.” Cain shrugged. “If I can survive against this ghost, I can probably handle whatever else might come my way!”
“Well, I’m gonna be over here where that thing can’t get me. I watched those movies a few years back, and they gave me nightmares for MONTHS.” Ab

Cain watched as Professor Selene made herself a cup of tea. Like the rest of the class, he declined a cup, less out of paranoia and more on the fact that he didn’t really like or drink tea tea very much. Dutifully, he took his notes on trapping objects, making note on the easier ones to use. He made a note to check the library for books on the subject.
Cain sat in the dorm room alone for the moment, idly strumming his guitar to relax after the day’s classes had concluded. Sitting nearby on the desk was his sealed notebook. In its pages, Cain had written down his various spells, effectively turning it into his personal grimoire. In front of him was a book on Egyptian curses he had checked out from the library.
Cain was debating how best to booby-trap the book, as per his assignment. “What to pick, what to pick…” he murmured, setting the guitar aside and leafing through the book. Flesh-eating scarabs… too complicated. Also eww. Disease? Absolutely not.

Cain slipped another blood bag into his backpack in preparation for his week in the woods.
“You sure you have to go in there?” Abel asked, a worried expression on his face as he glanced out the window to the forest just outside the campus. “Looks dangerous…”
“Yeah, it IS dangerous out there, that’’s kinda the point” Cain agreed, gently placing his sealed notebook and a pen into the pack along with a baggie of twizzlers before he zipped it closed, “but I’ll be fine!” He smiled and summoned a shadow tendril, willing it to sprout sharp thorny protrusions from the smooth ebony surface. “See? Besides, Vokun will be with me, and if I get into trouble, he’ll go straight to you!” the shadow tern perked up at the mention of his name and puffed out hiss chest proudly before emitting a note of confidence.
“If you say so, my bro.” Abel smiled back, his head tilted slightly as the tentacle shrank a

Cain tilted his head slightly in mild confusion as Professor Selene opened her book and browsed its contents for a moment before snapping it shut. As she described the concept of seals, Cain thought briefly about seals which were typically placed on tombs. Such seals were allegedly known to lay curses involving a fairly painful death on those who broke them improperly, much like how a password would lock someone out if they failed to input it correctly. And in general, the desired effect would be gained, since those caught robbing tombs in ancient Egypt were punished quite severely and painfully, with fatal end results.
Finishing class, Cain headed to Moonseed Lane after dropping his gear off, Abel trailing behind so as to distance himself from the books in the dorm room.
Cain browsed the shelves in one of Moonseed’s shops, hunting for an object with a simple seal he could break for his second assignment. Eventually, he turned to the shadowy shopkeeper for assistance, pulling out

Cain instinctively ducked as the gardening book flew over his head in response to Professor Selene’s waiting hands. Impressed, he eagerly scribbled down the four words on the board in his notebook, as well as the kanji she had used to cast the summoning spell.
After class, Cain dragged Abel to the library, and let him sit and read something other than the Journey to the West that he seemed almost addicted to-a problem Cain would need to help fix eventually.
Cain and Abel stood in a corner of the Library Courtyard, the former using a shadow tendril to hold up an English-Japanese dictionary and a a notebook open to the kanji needed, the latter holding his staff in a loose grip. Sitting on the statue in the center of the courtyard, watching the pair, was Vokun the shadow tern.
“Abel, you ready?” Cain asked, holding his hands up in preparation.
“Ready as I’m gonna be, I guess?” Abel answered, looking uncertain. “You sure this won’t hurt me?

“Okay, you wanted me out here for… what, again?” Abel asked Cain.
The vampiric pair stood off to the side of campus, near from the dorms. Both carried an inky-black parasol to protect their skin from the sun. Vokun perched neatly on Abel’s staff which had been stuck into the ground, observing.
Cain sighed and repeated his assignment from the journal in his hand. “I need to summon an uncontrollable horde by speaking in an animal’s tongue.”
“And I’m here because…?”
“Because you need some time outside and I want you to watch me do this.”
“Abel, my dude, my best bro in the world, it’s too nice of a day to be cooped up inside,” Cain explained calmly with a smile on his face, before pointing his finger down. “Now sit down, be quiet, and watch.”
Abel grumbled but complied with the order, plopping down onto the ground with his legs crossed, watching as Cain closed his

Cain held the cup of enchanted water in his hands carefully, a lid of shadow clasped firmly on top, wondering if he should drink it, or just trick someone else into doing it. On the one hand, the idea of being able to talk to animals was awesome! He could talk to Vokun all he wanted! On the other, he’d be stuck with whatever animal language he got.
Upon arriving back at the dorm, he found Abel holding a long oak staff with a dragon head at each end, with Vokun perched on the one pointing upward. “Hey Cain, how was class?” he asked, smiling.
“It was good, learning a lot!” Cain answered. “Where’d you get the stick?”
“Bought it on Moonseed Lane!” Abel replied as Vokun fluttered to Cain’s shoulder to commence with a nuzzle, which Cain returned, before sitting on the bedpost. “And look what it can do!” He shook the staff, which promptly collapsed into a foot-long rod. “Cool, right?”

Cain thought about what sigil he would use as class ended for the day. While the one drawn on the board and used in Professor Selene’s demonstration of the topic was certainly a good suggestion, he didn’t think that such a symbol fit him. Soon, an idea came to him: a cartouche, the Egyptian symbol that was said to protect whomever’s name was written within. That, coupled with the watchful gaze of Wadjet, the Eye of Horus, would increase the protection even further. Scribbling down the idea, he presented it to Professor Selene, who granted her approval.
Back in his dorm, Abel was engrossed in one of the stories on the bookshelf as Cain entered. “Sup dude?” Abel greeted with a pleasant smile. “How was class?”
“Not much, not much.” Cain answered, smiling back. “We’re learning protection symbols now! I gotta inscribe it on something open-able and then only I’ll be able to do so.”

Cain wandered away from the Tower of Babel, musing on the lesson. “words meaning “protect” huh? Hmm…” So wrapped up in his thoughts, he didn’t even notice the faint rustle of something landing behind him until whatever it was reached out and grabbed his shoulder.
Cain gave a loud screech of panic and whirled around to see his best friend bent over cackling and clutching his ribs. “Oh my god, Abel you PRICK!” he commented, unable to help but join in the laugh.
Abel stood up and smoothed out his usual black and white skull shirt, the piercings in his face shining in the dim light as he smiled. “I’m sorry, you looked so tense I couldn’t help it, I had to!”
“What are you even doing here, dude?” Cain asked,  wrapping his friend in a quick hug.
“It’s been so long I wanted to see my best friend, so I decided to fly on over here,” Abel answered, sticking his hands into the pockets of his

First Meeting (Aunt May and Spider-Noir)
Peter Parker of Earth-90214 had no idea what to think of the world he had been thrust into. One moment he was pursuing some gangsters with connections, the next he was slamming into a large electric billboard in the middle of Times Square. The cars and bustling people below were all strange, Peter quickly moving up and out of sight. The cover of night aided in his exploration, soon coming across a neighborhood that was all too familiar. The one house that had been his destination differed from all of the others on the street. An impossibly large group of people were surrounding a woman in the middle, murmuring prayers and words of comfort. It took only a glance to confirm it was a version of Aunt May, the faint trail of tears on her cheeks making his stomach churn. A quick look around into various homes showed the news on large electrical screens.
Well, that was...strange.
Honestly, Peter wasn’t sure what to thi

Well, Harold’s gone. I can’t say that I feel that bad for the dude after what he did to me; though he obviously wasn’t as smart as he thought if he couldn’t see that new guy Alejandro was playing him. I mean sure, I may not know much about sarcasm or social interactions, but I have seen Heather and Justin doing the same thing during the last two seasons; besides, manipulation isn’t anything new. I wonder how what’s left of “Team Victory” will be able to manage the rest of the game without their “brains”. Oh well, I was thinking about possibly speaking to Chris earlier today; but I changed my mind when my cover was almost blown by Cody and the rest of Team Amazon. I like the guy, but if I let he or the girls know I’m still here Heather and Courtney will make sure I get thrown off for good. Even if that’s not the case, it would probably be best to wait a little longer to reveal myself. Chri

A Black Friday Birthday [OCs]
November 23, 9 o'clock in the morning in the warm, scenic and coastal city of San Maria, California. On most mornings such this, in a place where the sun retained its heat despite the late time of year that it was, people would be either going through their daily routine or having a relaxing day without school for the holiday week as though it were summer rather than winter. However, this was not the case for Brandon Araradian.
The slender boy with hair of chestnut brown and eyes of light purple simply couldn't sit down. For once it was not his hyperactivity, but his nerves that made him act this way as he paced the floor of his bedroom with a panicking face nearly permanently locked onto his young high school student face.
"How could I have forgot?!" he thought to himself in this panicked state he was in, "He's my best friend and I just let him down! I'll never be able to forgive myself" he then gasped, "He'll never be able to forgive me!"
There was nothing that he could think to do.

Dave Strider
Dave Strider
Take What Homestuck character are you? today!
Created with Rum and Monkey's Personality Test Generator.</p>
It's obvious that Dave is really fucking cool. He jeers at John's inability to set up his Sylladex's Fetch Modus when John asks him for help and berates John's interests constantly. Dave is much more skilled than the other three characters, who either through their own cluelessness, admission, or silliness are less capable than he is. Through the conversations of Pesterchum and his own introduction, Dave already has his Strife Specibus set and he has one of the most advanced Sylladices available, giving him a huge advantage over the other three characters. Jade may be able to maximize the use of her Sylladex due to her precognitive abilities, but under normal circumstances it'd be close to entirely useless.

His incredible coolness also enables him to stay level-headed when dealing with supernatural things, (like Sburb) incredible things (like Meteors or Time Travel), or generally disconcerting things (like seeing his own corpse or talking about his dead friends).

Despite being the coolest thing since the Fluffer Nutter, Dave seems to be easily influenced by John. He has never removed John's gift, citing irony as the reason, and John's talk of the monster Howie Mandel stopped him from enjoying his Apple Juice. Also, it is important to note that Dave never feared his brother's puppets until John pointed out how unnerving they were. It might be that Dave is just an easily influenced person based on his inner desire to be super cool, but he has no problem keeping his distance with Rose.

Dave is a bit forgetful. He always loses his place in the latest MS Paint Adventure, sets several Sylladex traps, only to release them on himself moments later, completely forgets to pour out some Apple Juice for his homie, forgets all about his Timetables and thus, forgets he can go back in time, and even manages to forget his own intentions to forget something. (though that one might be him being ironic again)

Dave keeps a calm facade up to the exact moment he flies off the handle. This has happened when something makes him look stupid, like being buried under a mountain of puppet dick or having crows invade his personal space.

Underneath his cool facade he appears to be rather caring towards animals; he was visibly upset when he accidentally harmed a Rambunctious Crow and he may share Jade's interest in anthropomorphically persuaded fauna. However, this might just be one of his many ironic gestures. Regardless, his gift to Jade - a picture of Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff as furries - seems pretty sincere.
