Pokemon 07 - Unova Team

Here I am again, this time with Ash's Unova Pokemon.

As you can see, in this Generation, Ash broke the rule of "only enough Pokemon to full a team", and just like in Kanto's original journey, he captured many Pokemon. I have to say, however, they weren't developed enough, only the third part. I mean, from 9 Pokemon, 3 were fully evolved (Unfezant, Leavanny and Krookodile), 3 stayed just "half evolved" (Pignite, Boldore and Palpitoad), and 3 didn't evolve at all (Snivy, Oshawott and Scraggy).

Curious thing, with two Water Types and two Grass Types, Ash could have used them to fulfill some roles on other teams. For example, Leavanny could have covered the place of "Grass Type" in Unova Team.

- UNFEZANT: Ash kept the tradition to capture the region's Bird Pokemon, only this one had the peculiarity to make males and females different. In consequence, Ash caught a female Unfezant. I suppose he needed some female Pokemon to balance "an excess of testosterone".

- OSHAWOTT: Ash's first Water Type Starter since Totodile, and I have to say, one of the most used by my counts. All things considered, I believe should have evolved at least to Dewott. After the introduction of Hisuian Oshawott, Ash could have had the chance to get this variation somehow, eventually. A Water/Dark Type would be a good combination for Ash.

- PIGNITE: They recycled the same formula of Charizard and Infernape, as a Fire Type Starter abandoned by his previous trainer, until Ash welcomed it. With this, I truly believe Pignite should have evolved to Emboar. Only reason I see for not doing it? Avoid confusion with Bianca's Emboar. But he could have evolved during the Decolora Islands, since Bianca no longer appeared.

- SNIVY: Another female Pokemon who join Ash's team, not to mention the first one to use the move Attraction, helping us to determinate the gender of some Pokemon. And with this, Ash once again got the three Starters of a region. Personally, since Ash got a Torterra just like Paul, I don't see a reason of Ash not getting a Serperior like Trip.

- SCRAGGY: Ash got a new Pokemon Egg since Phanpy, unless we count the "unofficial" Larvitar. Since he was literally a rookie and with not too many powerful attacks, I could keep him unevolved for a long time.

- LEAVANNY: I wasn't unable to avoid to think on Ash's Butterfree with this Pokemon. Yes, it can't fly, but it's still a quite useful Pokemon as a  Grass and Bug Type. I have to say, however, Leaf Blade would have been better than the old Razor Leaf.

- PALPITOAD: Considering Ash's luck with Water Types, I never expected him to capture another one in the same region. In some ways, made me think about Misty's old Poliwhirl. It had some good moves, but I believe it should have evolved to become a Seismitoad; even if it has a bad reputation by being used by bad people in the anime. It would have been a great powerhouse, however.

- BOLDORE: Ash officially had his first Rock Type, if we don't count Larvitar. It could have evolved into Gigalith, but there was the trouble of being unable to do it without a trade. You know? Since Goh captured a Boldore too, he and Ash could have made them both evolve by temporally trading.

- KROOKODILE: Started as a "following Pokemon" like Jigglypuff and Spoink, until Ash finally captured. His sunglasses always reminded me Ash's Squirtle with his own. He became Ash's powerhouse in Unova, and a really good Dark Type for Ash's ranks. Personally, I think it should have gained a powerful Dark Move like Dark Pulse.
