Well, this is more a visual reflexion to share than actual art. But I believe I'm free to upload it and share it anyway.

You see, back when I started to enter in the world of Marvel's Comics, I didn't know about other heroes except Spider-Man. The first time ever I saw a "Spider-Woman" was in the Iron Man's animated series from the 90s, with Julia Carpenter in her original costume. The first time I saw it, I spotted her red (more like orange) hair and black suit and I thought "Hey! Isn't that Mary Jane? And... dressed like Venom?". It took me several years to fully learn the story of the Spider-Women, and it surprised me they actually had nothing to do with the original Webslinger. Years later, it came the whole mess of Civil War and a rightfully mad Julie started to look for her daughter. I still saw Mary Jane in her shadow somehow.

Years later, it came the "Renew Your Vows" arc, fixing (at least partially) the stupidity about erasing the Spider-Marriage of continuity. I found it really cool a world where, to act as a real family, MJ adquired spider powers like Peter by artificially means. (This could have worked in the main 616 Earth, if MJ had kept her powers from Spider Island). And when MJ said she needed a way to get her own powers to avoid draining Peter's, I instantly knew what that would take us. That's right!, Venom's symbiote enter in scene and bonded with MJ; which gave her a look VERY similar to Julia in her original outfit. I knew this would be trouble for the Spider-Family, but I was satisfied to see how Mary Jane submited Venom to her will. Then it came the moment when the bad guys kidnapped Annie, Peter and MJ's daughter here, and she went all "unforgiving mom looking for her little girl". As if her appearance wasn't close enough to Julia Carpenter, at this moment, MJ acted much like her during Civil War.

Sadly, or luckily (your choice), MJ didn't spend much time bonded with the symbiote in the end. That was a real shame, because it was even cooler than Flash as Agent Venom. I would have paid a lot of money for more stories about this, even although MJ's appearance didn't stop making me think about Julia Carpenter. And it didn't stop being ironic how, the first time I saw Julia Carpenter, I thought she was actually Mary Jane bonded with Venom.

So, what do you think? Don't you find all this ironic?

Very Nice find. I too enjoyed MJ's tenure as a spider hero. Wish "Renew your vows" was still going on.
