"Crime Alley" (2014)
Acrylics & colored pencils on hardboard panel. 60 x 80 cm. 23,62" x 31,5".
*Original art sold to a private collector.*

In late 2014 the Cöln Comic Haus, located in Cologne, Germany, dedicated a large exhibition to DC Comics’ superhero Batman, who had turned 75 that year. I painted "Crime Alley" for this event.

The picture is an homage to Tim Burton’s 1989 movie "Batman", celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. It shows young Bruce Wayne at the crucial moment that will shape his later life and makes him become the Batman. The roses symbolize his deceased parents.

A new superhero show at the Cöln Comic Haus is being prepared right now and I'm thrilled to be asked to come back and to be part of it. :)
