*MartaSyrko, I really like this photo! I do have to agree with ~Vollantis though, in that it is not the most original. However, what it is lacking in originality, it makes up for two fold in the technique and overall impact. The blurred background and the fact she is dead center gives you no choice but to look directly at her. And on her face is a mixed look, that of pain, but also of wonder- and she isn't looking at you. Amazing job, I think both you and the model did an excellent job! I might think of a different title though, to reflect the brilliance of the actual photo.

First off, I must say the piece is stunning. Her hair, freckles, eyes and lips all stand out equally to make her as a whole in focus. You did an amazing job with the angel, emotion, style, and practically everything in the photograph, although a girl staring at the camera with an eye covered with her hair isn't that original; though how it turned out makes it so much more amazing and unique. Her body makes it look as if she's heading towards me with the angle she is standing at, making a greater impact on me. All-in-all, I'd say one of your best pieces of work in my opinion. Great job!

Can a photograph capture the true 'essence' of a person?
To answer this question we must first ask ourselves what defines the 'essence' of a human being. The dictionary would define essence as follows: the quality or qualities that make a thing what it is. Therefore when applied to a person we would conclude that the essence of a person is the unique qualities that make that individual the person that they are. Sounds simple enough so far. Immediately coming to mind are qualities like facial features, body type and size, birth marks, tattoos, piercings, clothing styles, age, ethnicity, etc. All of these things make each person unique and since a photograph can record physical features with great clarity and accuracy we could say that yes a photograph can capture a person's essence.

This piece made me stop and look at your whole gallery. I actually used it as an example to another artist about what good photography should be like. It should sweep you out of the moment and take you somewhere else and this model's breathtaking unique beauty definitely does that. A good piece should feel familiar and yet have something unique to it and I think you did a great job in that aspect.
