ATC #58: Like A Sparce
"Rangoon the Dunsparce has some serious attitude thanks to his pair of shades. Like a Sparce."

Woohoo, another new ATC! This one was actually done on the spot last week at my local Pokemon TCG League. It's a trade with *Nestly, who drew an awesome Wobbuffet card! :D I was fortunate enough to get a chance to try out her set of copics, too, which is neat because I've never used those before! I usually use Prismacolor markers.

This is her Dunsparce on Black and White 2, Rangoon. He's pretty awesome. :) Not quite as tough to draw as I thought, but certainly not a walk in the park!

Drawn on December 15th, 2012.

Wow, cute and badass at the same time. Didn't think it was possible.

P.S. How do you make the text in the description italic?:iconwonderplz:

Thanks!

And to do that, you just have to surround it with ..., replacing the "..." with what you want italic.

Wow, this was done with traditional media? VERY nice, I always wanted prismas when I was doing traditional, but since I've gone the digital route, I can't complain.. *shrug*

Looks like I was beaten to the punch, but I also think it looks very Sugimori-ish, which was something I've tried to do digitally as well. Great job on the style..

Yup, this is traditional. I usually use Prismacolor markers when I'm doing marker pieces, but *Nestly had her Copics handy and I didn't bring any of my markers, so I figured, hey, might as well give 'em a whirl! Thanks, though. :)

Dat dunsparce! I love how you did the lighting in this one. It looks a little like Sugimori's older style (gen 1 and gen 2). Are Copics any good? I've always edged more toward paint or pencil. Markers just seem so... final. Like if I screw up I couldn't correct myself.

They're rather nice from what I could tell. I think I prefer the blending of Prismacolors, but yeah, you do have to be rather bold. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's not too scary. :) Just plan things out ahead of time!

They sound a bit like watercolors in that regard, but I imagine that they have a lot more control. I'll have to try them out sometime!

This looks so great Devin!! XD I just now noticed the CSI reference. *slow*
But yeah you did a great job on those copics. Was that your first time using them..? I like how you highlighted with them, better than I do! I always leave a tiny bit of edge left white and then it always gets bled through anyways, lol. But yeah, nice use of that colorless blender which I'm always too scared to use.

Either way, it's an awesome "first" art card for me to receive. <3 That Wobbuffet doesn't do it justice at ALL, which is why I drew a new one. Hopefully I can get it to you sometime during Cities.
I'm thinking of uploading some of mine in a "batch" of 6 maybe? Sounds good. ^^

Wait, I made a CSI reference? :iconslowpokeplz:

The colorless blender helped me feel more at home from my usual Prismacolors. Those things blend like crazy, which can be great for doing drawings with a lot of shading except without looking cel-shaded.

That sounds great! I'm looking forward to seeing your new ATCs! :excited:

Lol, YEEAAAAAH. :iconcsiplz3::iconcsiplz4:

Well that's good. :3 I've been cellshading too much lately-- gotta get back into the soft shading some time.

I could upload them NOW, but you would see yours and I want it to be a surprise! XD

Disregard "is that your first time using them" because I am a dunce and forgot you said it in the description. Obviously my brain has been sparce lately.
