Child's Play poster

I haven't been doing too many posters lately, but I figured I'd put this one together since the Eerie Horror Fest is coming up. I've never been a big fan of the Chucky movies. In fact, I think I've only ever seen the first 2 or 3. In any case, Alex Vincent is scheduled to be at the show so I figured I may as well do it. Also, you can never go wrong with the red, black and white combo! I try not to use it too much but it really seemed to fit here.

I am just wondering, how do you get that worn, grainy effect. The poster is brilliant by the way :D

Thanks. I'm not very good at tutorials. I've tried to explain how I do it before, but I don't think it made a lot of sense to anyone because I don't quite know all the proper PS terminology. I just played around until I found something that worked for me. I'm sure there are some tutorials around somewhere that can better explain or even have a more efficient process than me.

I always find myself having to purposefully veer away form the white/red/black scheme, otherwise I would use it way to much. Nice job

Yeah, I went back on a few designs before and changed the red to something else just to avoid getting in a rut.

I like the idea with the eyes, but having Chucky's silouette may be too much. It's a bit too upfront.

You could be right. I wanted to somehow convey that there was a soul inside a doll. I wasn't sure if I could get away with a Child's Play design without Chucky on there. Hmm...maybe the knife is a bit overboard?

I would've gone for a darkened toy box with Chucky in it, kind of like; We see it's a toy in a dark box with it's eyes in shadow. Then we have the eyes up there to ominously compromise for it.
