This shows a mega-machine or mega-computer - created and designed by a LOT of ambitious scientists of the future - which opens the first gate to a parallel universe (the shining "window" in the center). The size of this enormous super-machine will get smaller over the years, just like the computers nowadays are a lot smaller than the very first computers in the past.

Kinda reminds me of when I plugged in a UV EEPROM backwards once. The bubble window for erasing the PROM with UV light started Glowing like a Beacon....until the whole thing burst into Flames, got the nickname Sparky for a while after that one.
