I just got back from Los Angeles and i gotta tell ya that place is the epitome of GRIND. People are busting there asses to make it. It's infectious.

Being their with so many people using whatever talent they have to make it helped me realized just HOW MUCH talent I actually have and how far it has taken me and will take me.

Right myself I am still doing art work for Palladium Books and I have also become a partner in a new RPG company that you will soon see launch a Kickstarter to get our game and new gaming system initially funded. I also wrote the pilot for a supernatural action series set in the U.S and Tanzania. I am also art director  and partner at Roundhouse Games. We are working on  the videogame Aeryn: Nightmares of Fau which has started finalized concept art production a few weeks ago. I am also writing a feature length sci fi/action film as well as finally getting the First issue out of my magnum opus JUDA FIST: 7 Deaths Of The Yobi.

With my Imaginos Workshop Family we are together working on the Fau concept art and writing the story and pitch bible. We are also working the pilot on what we hope is going to be a Sci Fi/ Superatural series as well as creating other TV pitches.  Along with this we are editing a film script that we wrote sometime ago . We are also working on getting IMAGINOS PLUS no 4. ready for the stands by this summer.

What I am saying ultimately is 2018 is gonna be the year.

I am hoping my next trip to L.A. will be to pitch either this show are movie.

How we been getting down.

This year has been very very interesting thus far. I have done a lot of getting knocked down only to get up stronger and more dangerous.
As you probably know I have been honing my craft as a screen writer for the last 8 years. I have worked as hard at respecting that craft as I have illustration.

I recently wrote 2 spec scripts. 1 for the recently cancelled Netflix series SENSE8 and another for the HBO comedy SILICON VALLEY. Just like with any art form practice makes perfect and I have learned a great deal. I also along with my writing partners at IMAGINOS WORKSHOP wrote the pilot to an original sci fi series. The same writing group and I are also working on a feature film script. Wish us luck.

Most recently artwise I have been working on a project for Palladium Books, some of which you will see in my gallery. It is post-apocalyptic soviet inspired and hardcore.

With my finishing this project I have gotten a chance to go back to my opus JUDA FIST: 7 DEATHS OF THE YOBI issue 1. That's right!!! You heard it here. Layouts are in the finishing stages for the first 6 pages.

I am also working on comic pages with my studio mates Joe Cain and Allison Richards. Joes is a short story from his world of PARAGON PANIC and Allisons is a webcomic about the trials and tribulations of her move to LA and her trying to find a job in the film industry. Can't wait for you guys to see both.

Until next time.

2017 What can I say? There has been a lot going on, from the elecction of the Orange Maniac to  my not feeling to great after returning from my trip to Arizona. But in the end I keep on keeping on.

I have managed to write 2 spec scripts and a television pitch over the last four months. I have also managed to get a lot of artwork done personal , freelance and commissions.
I
I am currently working ona a Youtube afrofuturisitc sci fi series as principle writer as well as doing the extended pilot for another series.  I am doing all this while teaching a class saturday morning and evenings as well as Tuesday evenings.

I have finished writing issues one and two of Juda Fist: 7 Deaths of the Yobi and laid out the first 5 pages. I will be releasing those raw pages as a web comic up to page 15, after which I will wait until the issue is done and sell it online and in comic shops.

As a whole Imaginos Workshop is working on Imaginos PLus No. 5 while the students work on No 4. which is going to be a free comic both at the local shops and online.

Finally, we will be returning to Roundhouse Games propery Aeryn: Nightmares of Fau to create all the markietimg resources and tighten up the world. We are also thinking of writing Fau for TV,

This is about whats been up.

OH YEAH! I just bought the Ugee 1910b pen monitor. I love it and I ain't looking back..

It's August and I completed my first official year of teaching the comicbook workshop in conjunction with the non-profit #BETTER PONTIAC. I have also overseen the productions of our comicbook anthology IMAGINOS PLUS #2 and the student edition IMAGINOS PLUS: THE BETTER PONTIAC ISSUE. The Better Pontiac issue was a rousing success with all of the 100 copies we printed gone.

IMAGINOS  PLUS #2 is on it's second printing with our flagship book IMAGINOS PLUS #1 on it's fifth. have done illustrations for 3 Palladium Books projects, written a Sense 8 spec script. I have also written 2 complete issues of Juda Fist:7 Deaths of the Yobi.

Yup I am officially pooped. Thus, I took the summer off from teaching and will be back in early September. I await the verdict on my spec script from my writing partners here at Imaginos Workshop.

This year isn't over by far and I will have another update for you guys soon.

Peace.

I know it's been a minute since I last did an update but I have been a very busy bruva. Since last we spoke we successfully launched our Kickstarter Funded Comic Anthology  IMAGINOS PLUS ONE. It has been very well received and is on it's 3rd printing. We are currently sending the book as far as Los Angeles. Our junior partners have been given the huge responsibility of following up the success of Imaginos Plus No 1. with a whole different type of anthology in IMAGINOS PLUS TWO. Unlike one it will be more ALL AGES and less serious. NO 2 will be a perfect jumping on point for younger readers interested in the worlds of Imaginos.

Imaginos Workshop has also working hard to get the initial concept art ready for the ROUND HOUSE GAMES initial release AEYRN: NIGHTMARES OF FAU. The game is going to be kinda stempunkish and magical, with elemental spirits and magic infused technology. It surrounds a time spanning conspiracy that only the heroes are equipped to solve using wit and resources. Our Partners at Round House are as excited as we are.

We have also been working to finish our Initial Film script, A dark dramady surrounding the goings on at a prestigious boarding school. We are also finishing up a TV series pitch based on one of the properties at PALLADIUM BOOKS. This has allowed us to learn a great many things about writing and the way things work in the Film and TV business.

Finally we have partnered with the Non Profit A BETTER PONTIAC to officially bring the area the COMIC BOOK WORKSHOP. In this forum I teach the underpinnings of Sequential and Visual Storytelling. From Film to comics we explore the various bridges between the different mediums and how he marraige between visuals and story works in each. We will be debuting IMAGINOS PLUS 3 as a FREE COMIC BOOK DAY offering designed to showcase the students work in the class.

Right now I am finishing up inks on a project with my Detroit Tradecraft mates at GENERATE COMICS.

This Past Summer

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 22, 2015, 11:20 AM
A lot has happened this last past summer. Most not art related but most still good.

Imaginos Workshop is chugging along. We are finishing up issue 2 of IMAGINOS PLUS, our quarterly anthology. It is going to be way different than the first, more indy and ore childrens booky to show our range.

I also got a chance to do a LOT of design work this summer for the game we are collaborating with Roundhouse Games on, AERYN: NIGHTMARES OF FAU. I got in a little Palladium Books work in this summer but not much, and only recently.

Imaginos Plus 1 has sold out a few times and in a few places. We are waiting on two to ship, to print more of 1 to restock. That should be in a few weeks.

I am working on some spec scripts right now in hopes of getting my foot in the door in Hollywood. Keep them fingers crossed.

JUNE 2nd UPDATE!!!!!

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 2, 2015, 2:46 PM
On the Comic Side!!!!

A lot is going on in the world of Mark Dudley and   .  We got a chance to go to  this year to debut our comic book anthology IMAGINOS PLUS. People liked it alot but we know we have more work to do. We also went to Palladium Books Open House Event and really had a great time. I got to see some old gaming art colleagues and play a few games.

For those of you in Michigan, we are gonna be at the REDFORD COMIC-Con this weekend, June 6th, along with our larger crew Detroit Tradecraft. We will be selling Imaginos Plus along with books from Detroit Tradecraft and Generate Comics.

We will also all be at GRASP CON in Grand Rapids, MI at the end of the month. We are hoping to have IMAGINOS PLUS no. 2 there and ready to sell.  I am also doing some inking for my buddy Oz Wilson project HYBRID 121.

On the Hollywood Side!!!

We are working on finishing the 5th draft of our feature film script for a project we call THE ACADEMY. It's kind of Young Adult and has a very relatable protagonist trying to navigate through problems and situations as he works to figure out where he actually belongs. Vague I know.

We are also working on a television pitch for a secret Sci Fi horror project based on a Palladium Books Property. Mums the word right now, but if you were at Palladium Open House last month you know all about it.

I will keep you posted on any new stuff. Look for me to do some new Palladium Books art soon.  I am also in the process of writing and doing new concept art for the first **FULL** issue of Juda Fist. 7 Deaths of the Yobi!!!!

Good Looking Out and PEACE!!!!

Imaginos Plus Finished Cover. by MarkCDudley

About the Comic:

Imaginos Plus is a kickstarter funded anthology with a diversity rarely seen  in comics. It contains stories inspired by Sci Fi Fantasy Role Playing Gaming to Afro Futuristic Dystopian set pieces created to entertain and transport the reader.

The brainchild pf Imaginos Workshop, Imaginos Plus shows our ability to build believability into the most far out worlds.

This issue is lead by an RPG inspired Sci-Fi fantasRifts: The Adventures of  Young Erin Tarn. It is a story about a girl who will, one day, become and icon  in her world and the adventures that get her there.

Next is Requiem a Sci fi Mystery piece concerning a corporate sponsored strike team in conflict with its evil counter part, in search of an item that could cause or avert galactic armageddon. However, the item may carry with it clues to the past of each of our heroes and the world that are better yet left burried.

Third is the Superhero Comedy Candy Coated, about the misadventures of a superhero team that bungle their way through adventures that make us wonder if they are worse than the villains.

Last, but not least, is the Afro futuristic Juda Fist: 7 Deaths of the Yobi. This dystopian, hip hop inspired tale is about Amaru Jones, a man turned into a bio organic weapon who awakes from a decades old sleep to rebuild his life. However, age old enemies await his resurrection and ready themselves to continue a battle in which the fate of our solar system hangs in the balance.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

Support my buddy Pat Mosqueraa's Kickstarter for his 10 minute anime pilot THIRD FACTION ARMY!!!! This guy has the experience and know how to make it happen!!! Imaginos will be working with Pat on some things in the future.

www.kickstarter.com/projects/7…

As many of you know that about 7 months ago we completed out Kickstarter for the comics anthology IMAGINOS PLUS. We anticipated getting the kickstarter finished by March but for unforseen reasons we are still finishing this thing up. I am happy to say that we are near completion but it still bothers me that I didn't see a lot of the pitfalls that we have been dealing with before they occurred. I try to pay artists before they do work. I have been called stupid for this practice but it has allowed me to get better artist for this project than I otherwise would have been able to get. However, i do understand and appreciate the pitfalls of this practice and even on this project I have been burned, to some degree, by adopting it. In the end I think I can honestly defend the way we do business with our freelancers as an overall success.

It was not my aim for IMAGINOS WORKSHOP to become a full fledged publishing company but it seems that he fates of conspired against us on that account, so I think I will soon be announcing that we are indeed going to publish other titles beyond those created in house. I am looking at the landscape and still im not happy with some of the business models present in publishing as a whole so as usually maybe something needs to be done about this.

While i oversee all of the comic book creation process, anyone visiting this page knows my focus. For the last 30 plus years I have been bending , molding, shaping and stacking would will probably be my seminal work, JUDA FIST: 7 Deaths of the Yobi!!!

New Juda Fist Logo by MarkCDudley
Juda Fist is the story of Amaru Jones, a man who is given extraordinary abilities by a shadowing think tank who later betrays him. Grievously damaged in attempt to settle the score Amaru is secreted away and placed in a regenerative death like coma. Our protagonist awakens 70 plus years in he future. Though he has to acclimate himself to a future where advanced technologies are common place. He quickly finds the same old motivations and clandestine players still run the day.

Armed with abilities and growing knowledge of the ancient martial art known as the JUDA FIST. Amaru , along with his mercenary associates, has to reignite his war in order to save humanity from its own self destructive nature.

IMAGINOS PLUS Kickstarter Campaign IS LIVE!!!!

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 23, 2013, 12:44 PM
Expiration Date:

IT"S OFFICIAL. IMAGINOS PLUS IS LIVE!!!!!

A lot of people here on DA say they are fans of my art and I really appreciate it. However, right now I need for you guys to show me with your pledges. I am working on this kickstarter along with other great artists here on DA. We need you guys to help us make our anthology a reality. We are trying to create a forum where someday EVEN YOU may want to come in and do work with us.

While we are quite diverse in the mediums we choose to work in ( from writing for short films  to pitching scripts and projects for film and TV, and helping others through the pitch building process) we believe that comics, particularly comics anthologies are the natural progression in showing what a story can do in the visual medium.

As far back as Gary Reed's Caliber Comics, anthologies have helped to launch the careers of some of biggest creators in comics!

With the first issue of IMAGINOS PLUS we plan to  continue this legacy by giving visionary voices an opportunity to show their mettle on our projects as well as their own creator owned work.

The current visionaries Im talking about include.

Dimitris Moore,Cassie Henry,Gary Mitchell,  and CJ Howlett. I met the first two artists at last years Detroit Fanfare and this year Motorcity Conrespectively. I knew I wanted to work with them the minute I saw their work. So I showed the rest of Imaginos and they agreed.

Gary and CJ I met on Deviant Art, I saw there work and again, knew they had the inking chops and Unique colors respectively to bring something extra ordinary to the cause.

Returning from last time are veterans Ylenia Di NopoliShauna GrantKa Xiong and Brandon Clark. I found Ylenia's work on Deviant Art and she fit exactly the vision I had for how Requiem needs come across. Shauna I met a Youmacon and new then that her playful and vibrant style would make Candy Coated pop color-wise.

Ka Xiong and Brandon Clark along with myself and Ryan Csazar and our extended family form The Mighty Drunkenstyle Studios.

Back in 1995 we came together because of shared philosophies as it relates to comics, anime, hong kong cinema and visual story telling. So its no accident that Ka and Brandon would be coming in to lend some ink assists to truly make this anthology not just and Imaginos Workshop project but a bonifide DRUNKENSTYLE JOINT!.

So far we have managed in just one days launch to pull in 13 percent of our 5800$ Goal!!!!
We have also managed to get named to Kicktraq's no 3 spot for HOT COMIC KICKSTATER CAMPAIGNS in the last few hours.
However, if we are going to make our vision a reality we need your help. Small donations in mass help make goals as easily as large ones. So go check out our project and help it along.LET's KEEP THAT MOMENTUM GOING!!!!!

IMAGINOS PLUS(...Get thee ready...)

Journal Entry: Sun Oct 13, 2013, 5:09 PM
This year Imaginos Workshop has managed to meet all of it's goals so far. From a business standpoint,We took care of our business status and got our tax id. We were

able to get our legal house in order and procured Stephanie Hammond as our intellectual property representation.

Creatively, we got our first 120 page film script done. We also were able to get our Reality show Idea in the hands of people who could help it out and we wrote and shot CHANCES with Wrapped Productions and Mill Movement.

The last thing we need to do to make this year perfect is RELAUNCH, to a certain extent of IMAGINOS PLUS. When we first concieved the project a year or so ago we thought it would be more of a Sampler, that we could share with our audience to kind of gauge the popularity of our comic book ideas.

However, as I thought more about it, and found more stories from friends an collaborators that I thought needed to be told, we decided to try to makeImaginos Plus a bi annual ( and maybe quarterly if demand is strong for it) anthology magazine. We want the magazine to be a place where people can show the work and talk about the industry, ideas and people who do the work. Sure we want stories launched from the anthology to move on to other forms of media and other publishers, but we want it help showcase people who we think are really talented and mostly overlooked.

To kick this thing off, We decided to take some of the heat off yours truly and bring in some help on the penciling side. While I am currently penciling my own contribution, Juda Fist: 7 Deaths of the Yobi, We have hired to amazingly talented young people to do the rest of the penciling chores.

Enter Dimitris Moore,Cassie Henry,Gary Mitchell,  and CJ Howlett. I met the first two artists at last years Detroit Fanfare and this year Motorcity Conrespectively. I knew I wanted to work with them the minute I saw their work. So I showed the rest of Imaginos and they agreed.

So set them calendars for OCTOBER 31th, and before then look for information on this very page and the Imaginos Workshop Facebook pages, as from here on in we will be releasing more and more information up and until and after the launch of the Imaginos Plus Anthology Kickstarter.  I will be at Detroit FanfareOct 25-27 sitting with Palladium Books doing sketches and talking up the Kickstarter. The following week is gonna be huge as IMAGINOS WORKSHOPwill be at Detroit only anime convention YOUMACON. We will be selling things and giving away Imaginos Plus related Swag. We will also be talking up the Kickstarter and our doing some really cool how to create comics seminars.

THE MINOR LEAGUES!!!!

Journal Entry: Mon May 13, 2013, 9:16 AM
A colleague of mine at my day job whom I respect a great deal, was telling me he is going to our local con with his daughter this weekend. As we got to talking he related something to me that a friend of his, a very successful illustrator, said to him concerning comics that I really want to share.

The gentleman in question says that comics has sort of become like the "MINOR LEAGUES" of entertainment. Based on my love for baseball I can totally see his point. The farm system in baseball exists to nurture and develop talent. Hollywood, being creatively bankrupt, is  increasingly counting on creativity from outside it's normal channels to keep people in the theatre seats and watching the TV SETS.

It has fallen on Geek Culture ( Sci Fi Books, Tween Novels, Video Games and Comics) to be the vanguard of Hollywood's creativity though selling and licensing of the Idea's popular in said subcultures. Now if do a comic which is creator owned then your idea, if it has a following or looks like its going to have a following i ripe for exploitation by the hollywood studio system.

One look at Game of Thrones, Twilight, Walking Dead, True Blood and the Marvel Superheo Movies and you can easily see that Geek Culture seems to is being mined to serve the mass market. If you draw for Marvel or DC or one of the other majors then you dont own the property so nine times out fo Ten your not going to glean one red cent if that company licenses one of its properites. Even if you currently draw or right  the book and have contributed majorly in it's current popularity and or resurgence.

If you do a creator owned work then you can sell the writes to the thing, but beware. Without proper legal representation you could find yourself selling away your rights for a pittance of what they will eventually be worth. I personally know some guys who did just that. Their are multitudes of producers just a strollin the artists alleys at SDCC just looking for guys whose work and concepts look promising to dazzle with a100 thousand bucks on Ideas that will makes Hundreds of MILLIONS on.

Back to the minor leagues. I agree with the person who likened comics( and the wider geek culture) as the minor leagues. We develop really cutting edge and kick ass concepts, while Hollywood swoops in an gets to buy this stuff for pennies a cap full. A lot of times we Geeks want the acceptance of the mainstream so bad, that we make not so great judgement calls based on that need.

So what do we do. We should by all means sell our Ideas. Its not shame to be compensated for what you create, but make sure that you get the amount of input that you want in the deal. Because, like upcoming  World War Z movie , your concepts might not look anything like what you created in the end. The only thing they will share with the theatrical or TV property is the name.

If this is more than ok with you then consider yourself PIMPED. lol.

Focus

Over the last few years I have been running around like a Chicken with my head cut off, (Oh the imagery lol), trying to maximize my resources and lay the foundations for the infrastructure that will help Imaginos Workshop and by extention, Detroit Tradecraft become successful. Myself and Nik Emmadi( one of my 4 business partners) have finished and sent for editing a  Film Script that we think may go somewhere. Myself and my  partners at :iconvulnepro:created an animation pitch sometime ago which we are again working on shopping.

On the Detroit Tradecraft front,  we are doing our due dilligence to create a not for profit organization focusing on developing the Detroit Metro Area's Sequential Art, Writing and Illustrative community through social events, workshops and instruction. Only through having a more cohesive and supportive Story Telling and Illustration scene can we in Metro Detroit ever hope to showcase the full range and breadth of our talents and Ideas.

Having said all of this, I feel that I have to finally sitdown and focus on my actually Sequential Illustrations work. I need to get, at the very least 30 pages done by the end of August. I need a more comprehensive body of work if I am going to submitt anything I am doing to the likes of Dark Horse and Image Comics. While I have accomplished a lot, I think I have spent to much time in drowing man mode. Thinking that if I didnt grab a hold to something I would sink forever.

I understand now that this all is a slow and tedious process and I need to use my resources a whole lot more effectively if I am going to meet with any kind of success as a sequential illustrator and storyteller.
