Long Summer Days

In the remote outskirts of all known settlements lies a vast expanse of dust and sand, a sea of dunes if you will. Its soil scorched by its unrelenting host star, making for extreme and often times dangerously violent weather patterns. It is said that beyond this harsh and unforgiving landscape there exists a region of unimaginable wealth and unspeakable power, unspoiled by the ravages of greed and war. Many have undertaken perilous expeditions to satisfy their ambitious desires, only to have never been seen or heard from again. Legends are aplenty in this land of depraved and misbegotten dreams.

Critic:
I love the colors and poses of the people. The blurring could be toned down a pixel or two since it's a huge drop from the very front to the middle (with the people) to the back. I watched all the Star Wars movies once, but hardly remember them, and once I seen this picture knew it instantly. I would like to see more detail in the figures, the guy's dinosaur looking head seems very washed out and hard to see. I know it's suppose to look that way with the sun beating down and the high contrast, but I think a little less contrast near the guys important details, such as the head, and the other guys gear, would really help. There was a DD not too long ago in the same format as this one, link, notice how much more detail that one has, because the island is providing less contrast with the main focus. The very front blur also could be a little less, I would recommend making it about 3/4th that size, and vary it's height a little more to give it an allusion that the ground is also rough and changing. Overall good picture and color, but focus a little more on detail, and blurring.

Thanks for taking the time to critique my work. I really appreciate it. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the following two phrases "the blurring could be toned down a pixel or two" and "making it about 3/4th that size, and vary it's height a little more". The blurring seen in the photo is in fact a natural distortion produced by the depth-of-field setting in my camera at the time I took the photo. I did not add the blurring using photo editing software (e.g. Photoshop). The photo was all done in-camera.

Ohh wow I didn't realize the blurring the real. I only use ps and I don't take pictures so I just assumed.

Almost everything I do is done in-camera. There are a few exceptions but only when the piece itself calls for it.

Bossk: Ok, next time I say we go to Kashyyyk, we go to Kashyyyk.

I'm sure Kashyyyk wouldn't have been as bleak and desolate.

Utterly cruel and insensitive!

Yeah, but true. Bossk will be happy to hunt wookies, especially Chewbacca.
