Marina arrived in the mysterious, sun-drenched land of Sariya, where the sun shone all year round and the sea and palm trees looked as if they had stepped out of a postcard.

Thanks to her VIP card, she gained access to an exclusive resort — a secluded pool with shimmering turquoise water, hidden away from prying eyes.

Marina wore her favorite bikini in a warm shade of burnt orange that set off her sun-kissed skin perfectly.

She settled into a lounge chair with a glass of an exotic cocktail infused with mint and slices of mango, savoring the blissful solitude.

Marina felt like the star of a luxury travel commercial.

But she had no idea that nearby, in the shade of the palms, a man in uniform had been watching her for some time — a police officer. He had stopped there earlier,

seemingly by chance, and for a while observed her in secret. Every graceful movement she made, every sip of her cocktail,

the play of sunlight on the water and on her skin — all of it held him captive.

At last, he made up his mind. The heavy thud of boots echoed against the stone tiles, and Marina flinched as a deep voice rang out behind her:

— Your papers.

She looked up sharply and saw a tall man standing over her, his gaze unyielding.

— I… I’m sorry? — she stammered, confused.

— Our country has strict laws, he said coldly. Wearing a bikini outside designated areas is forbidden. You’ve broken the rules.

Marina’s fingers tightened around her glass, her mind refusing to process his words.

— But… I have a VIP card! They told me this place was allowed… — she protested, her voice trembling.

The officer shook his head and stepped closer, his expression unreadable.

— Ignorance of the law does not exempt you from punishment. According to the rules… you are under arrest.

Marina struggled to maintain her composure.

“Listen,” she said, pulling out her ticket and a printed brochure that clearly stated her right to access the VIP area.

“It’s right here, in black and white — I’m allowed to be at this pool! I haven’t broken any laws!”

But the more desperately she tried to defend herself, the darker the officer’s expression grew. A shadow of irritation flickered in his eyes.

Suddenly, he drew his service weapon and leveled it at her.

“Lady, you don’t seem to understand,” he said in an icy tone. “You are under arrest. Raise your hands and step away from the chair. Now.”

Marina froze. She set the documents down on the small table beside her cocktail and slowly lifted her hands. The sunlight glared off the turquoise water,

so bright and surreal that for a moment the absurdity of the situation almost made her smile.

Carefully, she rose from the lounge chair. The officer advanced, weapon still trained on her, each step measured and deliberate.

“You can’t be serious,” Marina said with a wry, incredulous smile. “I’m standing here in a bikini — your country’s most dangerous criminal?”

He stopped just a few steps away, his face carved from stone.

“Quiet,” he snapped. “You’ve been warned about the rules. Soon, we’ll find out exactly who you are.”

His voice was firm, authoritative, but in his eyes there was something else — a flicker of turmoil, or perhaps an unsettling curiosity.

Marina stood with her hands raised, her heart pounding. Two conflicting feelings clashed within her: a primal fear of the gun pointed at her chest,

and the bizarre sense that this entire scene was more like a ridiculous performance than an actual arrest.

The officer took another step forward, his voice tightening as if the situation were reaching its breaking point.

“Face the water and put your hands behind your back,” he commanded, his tone clipped and authoritative.

Marina hesitated for a heartbeat, then complied. Questions still spun chaotically in her mind, yet strangely,

a sense of relief began to seep through her confusion. It was as though something unseen had lifted a burden from her shoulders.

Even in this absurd moment — the gun, the threat of handcuffs — there was an odd calmness taking root inside her.

Perhaps it was the strange comfort of surrender, or maybe a distorted sense of escape.

The sharp metallic click of the cuffs closing around her wrists didn’t feel like a threat. Instead, it was a clear signal that her words no longer mattered.

The polished metal gripped her firmly, unyielding, and to her own surprise, she felt… not weighed down, but oddly reassured.

It was as if the officer’s firm control gave her a peculiar sense of safety. Or maybe it was just another turn in this strange game she had somehow stumbled into.

As he stepped closer, the officer suddenly grasped her shoulder and spun her around so that their eyes met.

Marina froze, caught in the moment. She felt the strength in his hand — steady, deliberate — guiding her movement. His intense gaze locked onto hers,

filled with tension that mirrored her own rising curiosity. Why didn’t this feel terrifying? Why was her body responding with such unnatural lightness,

as if her fear had been replaced by something else entirely?

She tilted her head slightly, glancing away in a deliberately coy gesture, as though dismissing the gravity of the moment.

“You see, miss,” the officer said, his voice carrying a hint of reprimand, though there was an unmistakable playfulness beneath it, “this is what defiance leads to.”

Marina, keenly aware that she had done nothing wrong, decided to reclaim a sliver of control — if only through words.

“Do I have the right to an attorney? To make a phone call?” she asked evenly, forcing her tone to remain calm and measured.

The officer paused, as if weighing his response carefully, his expression unreadable.

“All questions later,” he finally said, lowering his weapon. Yet his eyes remained sharp, almost probing, as though he were studying her as much as he was arresting her.

“First, I need to interrogate you.”

The officer, realizing the situation was dragging on, wasted no more time. Grabbing his radio, he spoke rapidly,

his words clipped and efficient as he relayed details of the arrest and called for backup.

“We’ll need more men,” he said curtly, not turning to face Marina until the transmission was complete.

Then, fixing her with a steady, unblinking stare, he added, his tone calm but unyielding:

“Now, miss, would you kindly kneel down… and lower that pretty face of yours.”

Marina’s brows shot up in surprise. For a split second, she considered resisting, but there was a strange gravity in the moment — something that compelled her to comply.

Though the command felt bizarre, even humiliating, she sensed there was more at play here than simple authority.

With a faint, sardonic smile and a trace of playful defiance, she lowered herself slowly to her knees. The movement was deliberate, almost ceremonial,

as if she were testing both him and herself. At one point, the cuffs bit more tightly into her wrists, but rather than pain, the sensation brought an odd,

unexpected calm — a reassurance she couldn’t explain.

The officer watched her closely, his expression unreadable. When she obeyed without protest, he stepped back slightly, still keeping his gaze fixed on her.

He moved deliberately toward his radio, but his attention never wavered.

“Just like that,” he said, his voice softer now, tinged with something that might almost have been approval — though it carried an undeniable edge of control.

“Stay still. Wait.”

Marina remained on her knees, her breath slow and uneven. Inside her, emotions tangled into an indecipherable knot. None of this made sense — his actions, his tone,

the contradictory signals in every gesture.

Her thoughts swirled. Maybe, deep down, she had always been drawn to a sense of control, to the surrender it implied. But was that why she wasn’t screaming,

why fear hadn’t consumed her entirely? Or was this simply a mistake — a ridiculous misunderstanding that would soon be cleared up?

She clung to the hope that once reinforcements arrived, the truth would come out. The police would see her documents, verify her identity, and release her.

This had to be a mix-up.

And yet… a sliver of doubt gnawed at her.

What if they didn’t let her go?

What if, in this foreign country, the rules were different — and freedom came only to those who could pay for it?

The thought sent a chill through her despite the sweltering heat. This was not the adventure she had envisioned when she boarded the plane to Sariya.

It was a nightmare dressed in sunlit perfection — and she was trapped in the middle of it.
