A Gift Without Consent: Marina in Satin
Marina sat quietly, listening not to the room, but to herself. They tried to present her as a “gift” — a beautiful shape, a neat bow, someone else’s expectation of meaning.
She did not entirely agree with that. Gifts are not meant to choose, and Marina wanted to choose.
She did like the garment wrap, though. Deep, wine-red satin gently embraced her, holding warmth as if it understood that now it was more important to protect than to restrain.
The fabric flowed along her body, catching the light, emphasizing not a role, but a presence. Wrapped in it, Marina felt composed, whole, and almost protected — strangely,
but truly so.
She looked straight ahead, without defiance, yet without submission. And perhaps it would begin with her face — precisely from there.
Even if she was soundless now, that did not mean she was silent. Her eyes could always speak volumes: of disagreement, of attention, of an inner decision already taking shape.
There was no plea in them — only clarity.
Her mouth was gagged, but her voice had not disappeared. It had moved into her eyes. In them was a clarity impossible to turn away from;
a calm “no” that required no explanation; a presence that asked no permission. This gaze does not argue or beg — it simply exists, and therefore carries weight.
If Marina had been wrapped in someone else’s form, her gaze was left unwrapped.
And it was her gaze that spoke for her — more precisely than any words could: she was here not as an object, but as a human being.
And the choice, still unspoken, was already reflected in her eyes.
Marina always knew what she wanted and was always able to break knots that did not belong to her.
Not with a sharp gesture — but with a simple step forward. Everything that once held her remained behind: fabric, ropes, others’ expectations.
Marina is free by nature — she only occasionally allows knots and materials to play with her.
She did not prove her freedom — she walked within it. And that was enough.
P.S.
In her soul, Marina truly enjoys being a muse or a goddess.
Not because she needs a pedestal, but because in these roles, she remains herself — calm, radiant, and free. The knots in her hands become symbols, the gifts are a playful gesture, and the drapery serves as a reminder of the form she chooses for herself. To be a muse for her means inspiring. To be a goddess means owning the meaning, not submitting to it.
A wonderful present.
