My next Botany for paleoartists post is finally here. I had to sit on it for a month, because the illustration had to be first published by the newspaper that ordered it.Here it is, however: the plants and climate of Northern Alaska during the latest Cretaceous. This was the time of Ugrunaaluk, Nanuqsaurus and a number of other Arctic dinosaurs, and it looked surprisingly much like modern taiga.Link to full text: https://hummingdinosaur.wordpress.com/2015/11/02/dinosaurs-of-the-taiga-botany-for-paleoartists-part-vii/

Mark Witton's book has just arrived; I haven't read it all yet, but it looks fantastic. It's huge and the amount of skeletal reconstructions is surprising even though we knew it was going to be very well-diagram'ed. The new illustrations look great (well, the old ones do too) and I'd like to mention that the "Disacknoweldgements" section is the cutest thing ever.
