5 Badly-Needed Commandments

Here are 5 commandments that are conspicuously absent from Exodus. The text says nothing about prohibiting slavery, genocide, rape, blind faith, or intolerance. That's perplexing, as it's supposed to be the word of God. Oh wait, it's not perplexing at all because all of these things are whole-heartedly recommended by God soon afterwards!


**UPDATE** June 21st, 2012: I did this piece a few years back and, upon further thought and your own comments, I now realize that the Commandments should be made less vague.
#3 should say "Thou shalt not beat or otherwise torture thy fellow living creatures", and then another one should say "Thou shalt not keep fellow humans as property".
and #4 should say "Thou shalt tolerate others' personal opinions and beliefs".
Those combined with the other three are 6 excellent rules for being a good human being, and they are also contradicted in the Bible. So (once again) fuck the Bible.
