Does anyone feel now that Bungie is back to how they were with Marathon? I feel that MS and 343 cramped their style in Halo. I don't know why, but I'll be buying Destiny because it reminds me so much of Marathon... not the story or anything, but the sortof... "this is going to be an amazing game" factor.
I personally think Marathon up through Halo and Destiny are connected in ways.
I mean read about the Pathways into Darkness controversies. It's mind blowing.
It the multiverse design causing different events and entities to give off a "shadow effect", which in turn causes the timelines to resemble each other, while also having distinct variations keeping them from following too close the the original, creating a mirror universe to threaten the entire multiverse structure, all of which is sensed by bungie staff, who must have a connection to the base reality of the said multiverse. Or bungie has a hard time getting past their old ideas. If it ain't broke, why fix it?
They're more independent now, for sure. But hopefully Activision won't own their soul like MS did during Halo.
Destiny looks pretty cool, but I didn't think I'll end up getting it. Still holding out for Marathon. I just hope that Marathon isn't given a really sterile, clean and streamlined redesign ala Halo. I hope it keeps its dingy, grimy, industrial look.
