About an hour later, after I’ve walked through the dollhouse several times, Emily came back for me. She was carrying a Barbie doll in one hand, no doubt to compare me against it. I went out through the dollhouse’s front door and stood at Emily’s feet. She rose up like a skyscraper, the fabric of her long skirt forming a cliff before me. She sat down on the floor and put her doll down in front of me. It was a fairly typical Barbie doll, wearing a bright pink jacket and short skirt and about thirty feet tall compared to me. Emily picked me up and sat me down on her Barbie’s shoulder, which was easily big enough to accommodate me. I held on tightly to the doll’s hair, as the floor was almost thirty feet below me. Again I was reminded just how incredibly little I was, when even a doll was giant-sized compared to me.
