PTT: So Darkness I Became

"And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat,
I tried to find the sound.
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became."

~

I'm really in love with this picture, it took us a lot of work to do but I'm so thrilled with the result! My friends were way too excited about chucking feathers at me. (Speaking of which thank you so much to my feather tossers: ~chinasaur, *Solo-dono, and Adam [link])

Lyrics are from "Cosmic Love" by Florence + The Machine, it's one of my favorite songs and I think it really fits Kraehe and Mytho's relationship~.

And for extra points this is my 200th deviation! :D I thought I'd choose something special for it, haha~!

Ahhh, the bodice of this looks amazing! Did you pattern it yourself? o: I'm working on a costume with a very similar top and I'm completely lost on where to begin >x<

Yes I did, I made the pattern from scratch! I took foam bra cups, cut them to the correct petal shape, then made a fabric cover for them. The bodice pieces are double-sided and sewn to the bottom of the petals. I'm sorry if that doesn't help, it's kind of difficult to explain! ^^;

Did I somehow manage not to comment on this 'un? What a disservice to you.

I love black-and-white. And the feathers are a great touch.

If I have one criticism, it is that I feel the lattice, rail, and square floor are not an appropriately dynamic background for the character, the posture, and the movement of the feathers. I can see how it'd be juxtaposition, but it's a bit much for my tastes here.

I do love the asymmetry and diagonal.

And, as ever: brave, brave, brave. Many props to you. Oh. And gorgeous, too.

Thank you so much for the feedback! And yeah, unfortunately at conventions you have to work with what the location gives you, and there wasn't much in the way of Princess Tutu-esque backgrounds, other than the stone area and this gazebo thing. We tried our best though! Again though, thank you~!

Dem's the breaks, I suppose. You (and the photographer) certainly did well with what you had.

I suppose many Kraehe cosplayers "do well with what they have." >_>

You are quite welcome. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Everything about this is so amazing! The fact that you guys went to all the effort of having real feathers, the angle, the stark white gazebo against the dark trees... it's just so wonderful!

Thank you so much!! Yeah, we had a mix of duck pointers, turkey wing rounds, and ostrich feathers that my friends tossed from two separate directions to get a nice spread of them. It took sooo many tries to get it right! @_@
