WOW! Great ID. What is the secret and the cost to produce something that big? I'm terrible with numbers and sizes (lol) and I wouldn't really know what to ask a printer...
Well let's see.....lol. How about adding a background picture? How big does it have to be to make it show properly? Do other light settings affect it or make it fail to appear in the render?
OK I thought about questions related to this image... You'll need big images for big renders, the light settings CAN make it not show up, fog will hide it of course...
Johan, All joking aside, I think many of us feel this way about our art. I never "found" art, really until 2004. I was surfing one time, looking for art to download and use as wallpapers and came across this most beautiful and breathtaking image I had ever seen (up to that point) and had to find out what it was. Of course it was a fractal, and since then it has been a love affair and I still feel the same way. There is just something about fractals that... you know, I don't know what it is because heaven forbid, it isn't the Math, because that is a real mystery to me. math was my absolute worst class in school. I hated it, and still do, actually. I never grasped how it worked. Well, past the main basics. The love of that kind of beauty is, I guess what calls to me.
I see what you mean, but for me, the fact that Mathematics can hold all shapes in nature (and has hidden them until now when we can find and see them via computer) is one of the main reasons I find fractals beautiful and mysterious...

Hey Johan if you don't mind me asking....what did they wack you for that size print and what is it printed on? Also what do you need for resolution pixels for them to print that size with its clarity?
A cut/paste of an answer to the same question @ fractalforums: Sadly the kind of canvas printing I got the chance to get a good price for (Full price about 55 £ per square meter) only uses a resolution of 100 dpi, and my original has pixels enough for this print size (4 x 2 meters) in 300 dpi... even if the rendering technique I had back then has a bit too few details to really be much better than in 100 dpi, I did get som modifications, so now I have made an even bigger, more detailed image of a zoom of the bulb (took about a month to render the parts), now looking for companys that prints 300 dpi
You didn't comment on my new submission Noxx... Didn't it look edible? Thanks for the fav anyways!
I think the problem is more colour depth... I have been to quite a few and they all knock out cmyk spot colour type stuff. What's really needed and this is the problem, is a printer that will knock out rgb photographic quality images that are indelible...in 64 million colours.
We just moved apartment and mjy neighbour as it turns out is an ex school friend of my wife... she is also a graphic designer... so she is going to try and check it out for me.. she has seen my work and knows what the problem is so fingers crossed. Thanks for the suggestion though. Lima is not exactly like London, Paris or Milan for example when it comes to top quality stuff like this...

Thank you Lea!
Hmm, maybe that is obsession!
But you are right, I can see this in this image. Never thought about it before.

Thanks
The pattern on the skin I did in Photoshop... wanted to stay a little bit anonymous
