Today we celebrate two years with the Mandelbulb.
Actually it was four years since Twinbee posted the formula on fractalforums but it would take two more years before the first power 8 bulb was rendered.

I did a render of this part of the meandelbulb because Daniel Whites "Cave of Lost Secrets"[link] was one of the images that got me back to the fractal world, this is a new version of that image made as a homage to Daniel and the rest of the people on fractalforums that did this remarkable discovery which led to the 3D fractals we see today.

My image was rendered using Mandelbulb 3D, DOF in photoshop.
Also added the small full view of the mandelbulb in the bottom right corner, lit exactly as the big image, with one positional light, so you can see where on the mandelbulb planet we are…
