A ring for all the kings of mathematics at Fractalforums and elsewhere.

Thank you for the formulas Msltoe, D White and all you other geniouses!

I am also amazed by Shapeways being able to print this ring with so much detail in Bronze.
Check out the inside too... it is the real inside of this fractal (invented by Msltoe at Fractalforums.com)

More images and a 3D view of it at Shapeways: shpws.me/twvu

It's so pretty, but I'm afraid I'll accidentally stab my eye out if I put my hand near my face.
MANDELWERK's avatar
There is a severe risk of doing so ;)
Thank you Ash!

xD  BUT I'LL BE COOL AND MATHEMATICAL WHILE DOING IT.
Totally worth it. I want a fractal wedding ring. xD

Ahahaha I have absolutely no idea what it is... I don't really wear rings xDD but I'd be wearing a fractal on my finger... TOTALLY WORTH THE PAIN xDDDD Fractal tattoos, fractal jewelry--I'm even planning on legally changing my name to Fractal. I'm OBSESSED with them!

Most welcome buddy :)

That is pretty nifty, but I imagine it would catch on things, and poke into your hand?
MANDELWERK's avatar
It can hurt to be beautiful ;)
Yes it does a bit, not too much actually, but this is expected behaviour by real life fractals :D

  I love your description of the workflow that terminates with "your finger"

Awesome!

But if it's bronze, don't you have to keep it polished so it doesn't tarnish?
MANDELWERK's avatar
Thank you, and yes bronze do color if not polished or clearcoated.
It is also possible to order in sterling silver and 14k Gold ;)

I always kew that math could be used in art, but I never imaged using it for something so creative like this!
