Mandelbulb Bracelet #1 -3D printed fractal jewelry by MANDELWERK Mandelbulb Bracelet #1 -3D printed fractal jewelry by MANDELWERK
The Mandelbulb, the 3D version of the mandelbrot set.
It was discovered at the end of 2009 by Daniel White & co in this thread at fractalforums: [link]

This 3D print of it has three interesting aspects, first: you can see all the famous areas, like "the spine", "the cave of lost secrets" (as Daniel named it ;) ) and the "tower" and the mini-mini bulbs.

Second you can see the INSIDE as it really looks, even the small holes which leads into the minibulbs.

And third, you can WEAR it! :)

In the image you can see my wife wearing it, sadly it is a little too small for my own hand, but it is possible to carefully saw through it at the thinnest part in the bottom to make it open up more (the material used is flexible).

Sorry it is a bit expensive, but it takes a lot of material to make it big enough, and it is very rigid, not like my first Bracelet:

…much cheaper, but has a prototype feeling, the Mandelbulb Bracelet is a real jewel.

nice use of a 3d printer. Do you design any of the fractals you print?

Thank you
I do all the work of the design, but I didn't invent the formula for the mandelbulb. Daniel White & co. did...

It is expensive, but it has a lot of material and material is money in 3D printing...
I have a much cheaper (15€) : [link]
...but it gets much less solid.

The worst part is to avoid too thin walls... and when you think it is OK they still find some small tip sticking out somewhere which is too thin... :/
I have a couple of very nice models which is OK besides some small too thin details...

Not my own printer. It is printed by Shapeways, not sure which printer they use for this material but I can check it if you are interested.

That's ok. I was just curious if you were printing at home with one of the compact home printers. There's one that cost about 1100 USD called "The Cube". I really want one. :D

Yes, i know, they come pretty cheap, but I have heard that you don't get the same quality as these "BIG" printers have...
Anyhow, I want one too! :D

Yea, the at home printers use more stabilization threads that you have to cut away with an exacto knife and supposedly the curves are rougher. Still pretty cool!
