I open wide the gates of my mind to you. It is a museum of great treasures, things precious to me, that I am letting you see. Walk softly among the treasures of my mind, my inmost secrets, for they are easy to break.
But what have you done! Look. You've broken one of my most prized possessions, a unicorn of purest crystal, in your haste to see a finger painting I did as a child, something I never intended to keep in the first place. You crash into a china vase over a thousand years old, splintering it into tiny shards looking for some controversial book whose name I've never even heard of. "No!" I scream as you squash the beautiful l
My dad died this morning, at age 82. It was both expected and unexpected. He had been in very poor health for decades and survived time after time, so we didn't expect that when he had to go to the hospital after experiencing some weakness a month ago that he would suddenly die in the hospital today. We miss him a lot.
I'm missing the old Daily Draw on the forum I used to go to so I decided to do "Inktober" instead, only without the ink (unless you consider darkening and cleaning the scan as "inking"). I probably should do more with ink, but ink and I have a long hate relationship, so I only use it if I have to, and not for quick drawings like these. I won't be posting every day, because of the scanning and cleaning etc, but I will be drawing every day this month.
The cancer hadn't spread much at all, but to reconstruct my upper lip the doctor had to cut a huge chunk out of it. It should look all right when it heals up (in about three weeks, the stitches come out in ten days), but it's a pain to deal with right now. (Why do my teeth hurt? Nothing was done to my teeth!) Anyway I can't smile or open my mouth wide until my lip has completely healed. At least I will be well for Christmas!
Thank you very much. I still hope to improve a lot, which is one of the reasons I have joined here (so I have someplace to display my work and put some effort into it.) I still have a small back log of images and other things to load, and probably folders to set up for different types of work, but I'm looking forward to making some new things for this place.
