"In the greatest of his achievements, Fëanor captured the light of the Two Trees to make the three Silmarils, also called the Great Jewels. He prized the Silmarils above all else, and
grew increasingly suspicious that the Valar and other Eldar coveted them. He either vainly displayed the jewels or jealously guarded them from all except his immediate family."

:star:A picture of the mighty elf, Fëanor, prince and later High-King of the Noldorian elves from JRR Tolkien's "The Silmarillion" (ancient prelude to Lord of the Rings). Here, he is in his younger days :)

I've been working on this for sometime, made for :iconmanstock:#ManStock's "Heroes and Villains fanart contest" [link]

I'd like to call Fëanor as the villain of this piece, though I never think it entirely his fault because the story is too tragic and complicated, and because the first Dark Lord, Morgoth, was mainly responsible for starting all the evils that had happened in Valinor and Middle-Earth where Feanor for the most part, is sometimes just a tool.

Info about Fëanor here : [link] ,

--------------------------------------------------

Fëanor is a great craftsman, he created many beautiful gems, the greatest of them being the Silmarils that were so pure and bright that even the Valar and all who dwelled in the
blessed realm were in awe and admiration of them, including the Dark Lord who lusted greedily after them, stole them with a murderous act of vile treachery and awakened Fëanor's
wrath. That started a long, terrible and tragic war which ate up everything upon its path in flames of ruin, deception and despair that was the main driving force of all the events and
tragedy that fell upon middle-earth in the first age.

I could go on and on...it's a big story, and one of my favourite books :XD:
Hope you like this :)

This is one of the best Feanors that I've seen. :) He looks very much like an elf lord
and I like how he's clutching his famous gems.

GOD bless

The picture is amazing. I wouldn't call him a villain though. I think "antihero" would suit him better.

Thanks. Melkor is the true villain, I think. Feanor just lets himself be manipulated...and I guess I like Feanor too much to call him evil :meow:

Though he does have some villainous qualities as well.

Very nice work. I like the effect you did with the light from the gems in his hand and the almost abstract way you painted the Tree.

Couple of questions. What is his right hand doing? Also, I like that you had the pin at his waist be made of two parts twining together, but shouldn't the lower one go under that highest loop where the two cross so that it holds tight together? And how can he move with that breastplate?

Thanks, and for the critique :)

You're welcome. Really though, what is his right hand doing?

It is doing nothing at all. It is just following the reference, which btw isn't a real person, but a 3d image. The finished picture is different from the reference because clothes are added.

If it looks strange, maybe thats why it needs that critique, whic is much appreciated. Thank you.

I guess also, how does that pin stay on? There is no hint of string going over the metal, nor is there any hint of another piece of wire going behind the fabric and main ornament to hold it there.
