Frequently asked question #1: MalvaAlcea… is that your real name?
No it's not. That's the Latin name of a certain flower. Search for Malva Alcea on google and you'll understand.

Frequently asked question #2: What's the name of your little characters?
I have taken to calling the male character Little Dude and the female character is called Little Lady.
Edit: Yes, I am aware of the fact that these names are not exactly what you'd call groundbreaking.

Frequently asked question #3: What tools do you use to draw your pictures? Do you use an editing program to make their heads round?
Black ballpoint pen, that's all. No pencil, no gel pens, no editing program, no magic involved. Everyone can do it, this isn't rocket science you know. But I hold my breath while I draw their heads, maybe that helps.

Frequently asked question #4: How long does it take you?
That's hard to say as I tend to lose track of time when I'm drawing. But I guess it takes about 4 or 5 hours to finish a drawing.

Frequently asked question #5: How do you think of the quotes you use in your drawings?
That varies. Mostly I make them up myself, sometimes they are based on something I once read or something someone once told me. And sometimes they're actual quotes from famous people (in that case I mention that person in the artist's comments of the picture).
Edit: It is hard to think of so many different quotes though which is one of the reasons why I haven't submitted any new pictures lately.

Frequently asked question #6: Do you draw a new frame for each picture or do you just copy and paste the same frame every time?
I draw a new frame for each drawing and yes, it does get boring.

Frequently asked question #7: Can you read my mind? Cause the feelings described in your pictures always seem to match my feelings.
Sadly I do not have the ability to read minds but believe me I'd be happy if I did. I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I fear, I cry. And I know you do the same things, too, so we're really not that different.

Frequently asked question #8: So... are you in love?
I am

Frequently asked question #9: May I use one/some of you drawings for a school project/collage/whatever?
No, generally you may not. But in special cases I am willing to make an exception. If you think yours is one of said special cases, send me a note and we'll work it out.

Frequently asked question #10: May I post one/some of your drawings on my website/my myspace page?
Sorry, no.

Frequently asked question #11: May I print out one/some of your drawings for my girlfriend/boyfriend/mother/someone else?
See Frequently asked question #9

Frequently asked question #12: May I colour one of your drawings and upload it in my gallery?
No. My drawings are not for stock use. If I wanted them to be colourful, I'd colour them myself.

Frequently asked question #13: Where can I buy prints of your artwork?
Sorry, no prints available.

Frequently asked question #14: Is it possible to buy original drawings of yours?
Yes, you can do that. Just send me a note to let me know which one you are interested in, then we'll figure out everything else.

Frequently asked question #15: Are you doing this FAQ thing because you're a mean, snobbish, high-maintenance bitch who doesn't want to talk to other people?
Hell no, I'm just trying to save us some time :D

Frequently posted comment: Thank you for making my day.
You don't have to thank me for making your day. Remember that you are making mine as well <3

alright then, it's time for a new journal entry since i didn't upload any new deviations lately and there's got to be something new every now and then, right? and apart from several uploads in my scraps this journal design is the only new thing i can offer. but maybe it's the fact that it's the only new thing in a looong time what makes it so special for me. no wait, that's not true. what makes it so special is the fact that i made it myself. i had to get rid of the old design my ex-boyfriend had made for me when i first got my subscription and now that we're not together anymore i can't ask him to make a new design for me. so i had to do it on my own. and i've got to say i'm actually quite proud of myself :D

well, i have to admit i'm pretty lazy these days but that's not the only reason why there haven't been any deviations lately. school started on monday and i've already got a lot of work to do. that's why i'm just doodling around most of the time. but my head is bursting with new ideas which need to be put on paper as soon as possible. god i seriously need to stop being so lazy :faint: i'm actually tired of my own laziness and i'm tired of repetitive journal entries in which i keep telling you that i'm too lazy or too busy (or both) to do anything. that's just sad.

have a nice week everyone :boing:

i feel weird cause i have 300 messages in my inbox waiting to be read and answered. and they have been there for three weeks. that’s because i haven’t replied to any messages since we got deviantart v6. the first time i saw v6 i was like.. ooookay something must have gone wrong, this just can’t be supposed to look like that. then i wondered if i was the only one who didn’t get it. and now i wonder if i’ll ever get used to it.

do you know these moments when you realize that everything you desperately wished to happen has not happened and everything that could have been right has gone wrong? you just gotta love them…

well... i feel like i lost my emotions. and i've felt this way for quite a while now.

i'm just kidding. here's the thing:

my newest deviation ‘lies we have to tell’ got more than 600 favorites, that’s almost twice as many as my second most popular deviation got and it’s a lot more than my average drawings usually get :faint:
i got 1200 messages over night and like 60 new watchers and a few thousand pageviews and i’m totally blown away.
it’s just so weird how popular that one drawing is. don’t get me wrong, i really appreciate it, i’m just totally overwhelmed. i feel so flattered ^^;
i’m still working on the 1200 messages, trying to reply to all of them. that’s going to take some time though.

have a nice day everyone :boing:

fan letters

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 26, 2007, 1:15 PM
hi everybody

today i have a very special treat for you.. - okay, this introduction sucks :paranoid:
anyway, this afternoon a friend of mine was telling me about these fan letters that J.K. Rowling gets and the frequently asked questions people ask her (my friend is a huge fan of J.K. Rowling herself) and there was this one kid that asked whether Mrs Rowling would like to be his pen friend. and my friend just didn't get how that kid ever managed to pluck up the courage and even ask a famous author like J.K. Rowling to be their pen friend.

so anyway, i thought the whole thing was rather amusing so i started writing a fan letter to J.K. Rowling (not a real one of course and i won't send it to her), just for fun, you know. And here it is:

Dear J.K. Rowling,

I would have answered your letter sooner, but you didn't send one. Could you please send me one next time? Anyway, I'm just writing this to tell you how great you are - but you probably know that. You've got 500thousand people telling you you're great every single day. That must be pretty boring. I'd love to give you some advice on how to get rid of these people. But I'm not so good at giving advice. Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment? Yeah right, you can’t answer that right now so I’m just going to carry on.

So, the thing is, I love your Harry Potter books – well, who doesn’t? – but the difference between me and all your other readers is that I cared enough to send you this letter.
By the way, I’m Cathleen and I love your books. But I think I mentioned that already. So anyway, last week I was at the beach to go out for a swim and while I was bouncing happily along in the water trying not to step on any fish or shrimp or something (you must know, I’m a level 5 vegan. I don’t eat anything that casts a shadow. And also, I don’t want to be responsible for the death of innocent sea creatures. Or, for that matter, any creatures at all.) I had the greatest idea for your next Harry Potter book. That is, of course, if you’re going to write an 8th Harry Potter book, which you will most certainly do when you have read my idea.

Now, prepare to be amazed. The idea is that you could name the 8th book, like, ''Harry Potter and the Mountain of Imagination'' and now tell me that’s not the greatest title you’ve ever heard of! You’re probably wondering why you never thought of that, aren’t you? But that’s not the point.

So I think you should name the book ''Harry Potter and the Mountain of Imagination'', like I said, and I think it would be nice if you could introduce that guy Mark Evans in that book, so people would stop asking things like 'Mark Evans? Never heard of him. Who’s that?'' cause that's pretty annoying, right? Just one more time though… who the hell is Mark Evans?? Now that you’re my pen friend you could tell me things like that, you know.

By the way, did you know that ten thousand birds die every year from smashing into windows? Isn’t that sad? I think you should write that in your book, too, so that people would finally see how cruel they are.

Oh and also, when you’re using my title and my ideas... You might as well mention me in your book. Like, you could dedicate it to your truest fan and a great friend (that would be me).

And since we’re really close friends now, maybe you’d also like to know that I’ve started to write my own book. It’s called ''Elephants and Bagels'' but it doesn’t really have a storyline yet. Maybe you could help me out on that. Cause up until now it only says that cats, unlike elephants, can reach terminal velocity by making themselves into little parachutes. They actually have a better chance of surviving a fall from the 20th floor than the eighth floor because it takes them about eight floors to realize what’s going on and relax and correct themselves. Cats are cool. In fact, I think you should mention them more often in your books.

Ok I think this is it for now. I really hope that you will reply this time but I’m pretty sure you will. You have to. I told you about so many great ideas, you just have to answer. You will, won’t you? Please?

Alright, bye then.

Looking forward to receiving your letter soon!

Love,
Your greatest fan and dearest friend Cathleen

nice, isn't it? :D
by the way, Cathleen was the first name that popped into my head, there is absolutely no sense behind it. and if your name happens to be Cathleen, please don't be upset.
and remember, kids: this is just a joke.

Have a nice day everyone
