With Derpy Day 2019 (March 1st) comming up and the weather being just lovely last Sunday I started the chalk drawing season for this year ;)
I was inspired by this hilarious drawing by leadhooves :iconleadhooves:
Again I drew in the neighborhood where I have drawn before and where the kids from around happily offered to help.
I want to give special credit to a young artist who goes by the artist name Minchen bienchen and who not only filled in large parts of Derpy's wings and tail, but who also made suggestions like placing the muffin on a plate rather than directly on the glass, add some steam lines and also make the tag line I added to this drawing (To catch a muffin one must think like a muffin!) look like it too was made up from the Muffin's steam.
Here is a version of the image with the tag line:

I don't know how to describe it. just sort of the way you outlined her. As far as I know he doesn't have a DA. But Here's the Video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QstCq…

That's right, fill the public spaces with pony!  :D

You all did great.  Pavement chalk has always struck me as a little hard to do anything with since there's no eraser, the "crayon" is usually bigger than your hand, and the "paper" is hard as a rock.  So kudos!  :)

And this is colored chalk too!  I’m amazed how you were able to blend the dark-to-light yellows on Derpy’s irises so well.

I only wish there was a coin or a soda can or something in the shot so we could have an idea of size...

I am absolutely dependant on erasers whenever I draw on paper ;)
Luckily it is kind of possible to "erase" chalk drawings too. Though most of the time it is not so much erasing as it is overdrawing something that doesn't look the way it should. I can only encourage you to give chalk a try if you feel like it. It took surprisingly little practice to figure out how to work with chalk. Different colored chalks and coal can be mixed rather easily by putting several layers over another and then wipe them. That way many soft effects like those of the irises (glad you noticed :D) can be created.
This chalk Derpy was smaller than some other drawings I made last year, but I can give you an idea of the size because the young artist who helped filling in the outlines of Derpy also took a picture of me sitting behind the completed drawing:

O wow.  It’s way bigger than I thought.  Thanks for the reference photo! :D

My area’s winters are very rainy, but maybe I’ll give chalk another go once summer rolls around.

Nice job again, you guys!
