With Equestria Daily's Cutie Mark Crusader Day 2018 drawing closer (November 20th drawing closer I made a pyrography which I would like to dedicate to all the school students and teachers who ever experienced one of "those schooldays" as implied by the crusaders' display of enthusiasm on their way to school shown above ;)

This is a digitally colorized version of the outlines only (wip) version of the pyrography:

wow! This is overall a great piece the color is accurate and the picture is adorable! however, I have a few suggestions. First of all, what happened to Scootaloo's neck?! It looks weird and off. secondly, at the bottom, I noticed that the color was blended, and that looked great! But then you stopped at the side? I don't understand that choice. lastly, on one one side, the tree stops the color, but on the other side it just keeps going. Thats all I have to say, I hope I wasn't too harsh on you! keep up the good work and have a great day!

Thank you very, very much for your critique and feedback, twotailstm :)
And don't worry about being too harsh. There is always something to improve in my works and I am happy about any help to do better in future works.
The poses of the crusaders here are strongly based on a scene from the MLP episode "sisterhooves social" in which Sweetie Belle is scooting over the floor like all three here are doing. The lack of neck is pretty much based on that scene, but you are right that it does look kind of odd.
As for the color at the top and the bottom, I used a gradient which allows for the color to fade out at the edges. Sadly that option allows for the fading to be implied in one direction or else in shapes such as a circle which wouldn't work here. I could have used the eraser tool to create a similar effect on the sides but was somewhat too lazy too and sort of justified the hard edge on the right with the one on the left (where it is more justifyable with the treetrunk providing sort of a sensible hard border). But you are right that on the right side in particular it looks strange to have such a hard color edge.
Thank you very much for your kind words and your helpful feedback :)

Aye and luckily most of the time the Crusaders seem to have mastered that fine art, in fact they are displaying mastery of it in this image if not with a fake cheer about it ;)

Thank you yery much, AquilaTEagle :)
With those looks I'm afraid this may not be the most magical friendship moment but for the common wish to return to their beds or do anything other than sitting through a long school day.
Everything we see in MLP suggests that the crusaders are eager students which every teacher would be happy to have in class... so long they are not contributing to the unleashing of chaos onto the world by brawling in front of a petrified draconequus ...but I think everyone experiences a day of low motivation at one point or another ;)

Aww… Poor cuties.

I know how they feel.

Nice work, by the way.

Thank you very much, OptimusV42 :)
I am a very strong proponent of a good education, but I am not sure if there is even a single person privileged to be able to visit a school who would not know that feel :D

I'm sure you're right.

I was like them, in my last 4 years of school. But when I moved to the gymnasium, I somewhat changed, and became more eager to learn. I can't explain how it happened.

I had always understood the general significance and had been a relatively motivated students on most subjects. But same as I think almost everyone there had been those particularly early mornings, with a particularly warm bad, occassionally particularly unpleasand weather and the expectation of some particularly harsh lessons... the combination of which led to a the kind of days the image is describing.
In the later years at the "gymnasium" (to all English readers, "gymnasium" describes the kind of secondary school preparing for university over here, not a gym for sports ;)) there were some subjects of which I knew that they would not be relevant in any way to my future joblife while at the same time in senior grade the stuff taught in said subjects had gone well beyond what could be justified as basic common knowledge. The combo of perceived pointlessness for the own life, extreme amount of time spent on it and the looming threat for the own marks was somewhat frustrating ;)

I know exactly what you mean.

I just meant that with me, I am naturally curious. It's just that, before that year, 2010, I had for some strange reason not really taken to me that that was just my true inner self.
